Using Geno as a metric of how poorly Russ is playing right now doesn't mean we must think that Geno is as good as/ better than Russ. The number of people who don't get this (or disingenuously pretend not to) is astounding.

Your comparison to Aaron Rodgers, does not mean you necessarily think that Wilson is as good as Rodgers. Same thing.

It's not amateur eyes to notice that the bulk of their 2022 play has been remarkably similar. Wilson still has a slight edge on the longer ball, and that has saved his statistics from being absolute dog s***. He still plays like Russ of old, putting himself into the hole that he digs himself out of.

Whether that continues to translate into success remains to be seen. I still maintain that the Broncs aren't making the playoffs this year, and the Hawks will secure a playoff berth before the Broncs do.

Aaron Rodgers was pedestrian the 1st year in that offense. Year 2 and 3 he returned to form after being Alex Smith the 5 seasons prior.

To the amateur eye Geno is outplaying Wilson. I don't put a lot of weight into Geno's performance against the ATL defense. If you want to make that mistake go right ahead. Once the season has played itself out, Wilson will have better numbers, and more importantly for him a lot more wins.

Pete Carroll is going to keep losing, and Russell Wilson is going to keep winning. That's what you should be concerned about. Keeping Pete isn't a W, but an L.
Once the season plays out, it is possible that moving on from BOTH would have been the best path forward. But in no way do I agree that keeping Russ and his contract, while bringing in some mystery HC is the answer.

It reminds me of when Shawn Kemp left. Kemp was better with Karl, and Karl was never as good wihout Kemp.

Russell has some problems with his WRs. Because honestly, for some of those catches to be made, like they were in Seattle, you need incredible WRs.
Denver is almost WR poor.
But Wilson shouldn't be missing some of those throws. He was terrible.

I figured he would struggle for the first half of the year and then go on a tear in the latter half.

But man...not struggle like this. And I am not sure how this tear happens....

Wilson seem hesitant, like he lost his confidence.

I think he will have a decent game against the Raiders next week.

Make no mistake, Limited or not, his team is sitting at 2-1 and we are at 1-2. We could have won the Falcons game, but Broncos could have won the Hawks game too.

12s are at ease because we are supposed to suck and sucking helps with picks. Can't say that about their fans, it was suppose to be the year to go deep into playoffs, and they haven't play like a team that will go anywhere.

Honestly I think the boos have really shaken him. Was he ever bood once in all his years in Seattle? Not that I can recall. Truth can be a vicious mistress when you finally realize maybe your poop might just stink a little bit like the rest of us.

It's all on Russ..He chose to go there instead of 3 other places
where they don't expect as much.
Father time is not doing him any favors with the fans either
all they say is where is the "$250 million going"?

Just some food for thought.

Russ will be washed when defenses start playing him like he's washed.

Defenses are playing a lot of 2 deep / Quarters, etc. to take away all of the downfield passing in neutral situations.

If he were truly washed teams would not show so much respect for him instead stacking the box taking away Denver's strong running game, forcing Wilson to beat them as he's washed. Teams aren't doing that though, instead they are cool with getting gashed in the running game as long as Wilson doesn't go off.

Geno on the flipside is getting the opposite treatment. Teams are loading the box gameplanning to shutdown Seattle's running game, believing Geno isn't much of a threat. Teams will adjust and start showing Geno more respect if he can continue to replicate what he did against ATL and put that on film consistently.

If Wilson has more wins at the end of the season, it'll be because Denver has a superior defense and run game and is MUCH further along in their rebuild/player development process than the Hawks are right now.

Is Russell better than Geno is not a debate, of course he is. But it's a hell of a lot closer and getting closer by the year as Wilson's legs continue to fail him as he ages.

I'm not just talking about this season. I'm talking about forever.

Next year Denver is going to win way more games, and the year after that, and so on. Until Pete finally moves on.

Pete is washed. That is the irony of the situation. Defenses are still terrified of Wilson's deep ball, and are playing him accordingly. Meanwhile coaches are relieved when they see Pete Carroll's Seahawks on their schedule, as they are the easiest team to prepare for in the league.

I'm not defending Pete, but I wouldn't put money on Denver's prospects tied to Wilson for another 4-5 years having to see him deteriorate before their very eyes while signing his 50M a year paychecks.

He's regressing at a rapid pace, and probably has an even worse HC situation than he had here. Of his own doing of course.

Tom Brady and Joe Burrow are 20th. Cooper Rush and Brissett top 10. Weird
Father time and wife drama may finally be catching up to Tom. He hasn't played well so far this season.

Also, it's not even a quarter of the way through the season yet. People seem to forget that even the best QBs have streaks and ups and downs through seasons. Tom Brady's second half of the season in 2015 was not great. Mahomes really struggled in a stretch of the middle of last season.

Interesting that you highlighted that! We are scoring in the first two quarter now, opposite of past seasons with Russ when we couldn't score for three quarter, then Russ suddenly rescue the team from a sure defeat.

LOL, our problem now is scoring in second half.

Wilson lost his cheat codewheels in 2018. He's been doing most of his damage from the pocket since then. His demise has been severely exaggerated. Even Matty F. Brown, one of his biggest critics thinks he'll be fine in Denver.

Did you forget how good Wilson looked down the stretch last season once his finger got right? And of course how good he looked before his finger got injured? What's going on right now in Denver is a lack of continuity, a brand new offense that even guys like Rodgers and Matt Ryan struggled their 1st season in. Injuries at WR, RG, & RT, no pre-season, and a Rookie HC who's made some mistakes for sure, but is improving. Hackjob already improved tremendously from game 1 to game 3. And they will continue to improve as an offense as the year goes on.

Wilson will be fine over the next three seasons, he is going to keep winning. They've set their salary cap up to be major players the next 2 off-seasons to go get the pieces they need. They're stacked on defense, could use some help at WR and OL, they'll have the space to do just that.

Cash over cap. They're paying him $50M a year but his cap hits are no where near that.

2022 $17M
2023 $22M
2024 $35.4M

The Seahawks under Pete are the ones that are screwed, and that is where the attention must go. We're approaching irreparable damage territory with Pete, all that's left is to draft a QB, not develop him properly, stick with a defensive HC who can't coach defense, and the Hawks are looking at 5-10 years of darkness. The hole is being dug deeper every year he stays on. The Seahawks need a new head coach that has developed a QB before, before they even attempt to draft one. RWless Pete has a career losing record and it's only going to get way worse over these next few years if something isn't done about it.

Good analysis.

Similarly, if Wilson's keep playing that way he is playing, DCs will take note and adjust accordingly.
