I was going to post this but knew someone would beat me to it lol. I don't think I've seen Baldwin play at all up to this point, but I think I'll bet on the unknown versus the all-but-known failure of Jenkins.

Baldwin looked awful in preseason, dropped easy catches. But his size and athleticism was very clear.

Yea this last preseason game I only caught bits and pieces and one of those was a VERY catchable ball by Smith sail right through his hands and deflect off his chest lol. Hopefully the Niners can train that out of him.

Also, hopefully he has a smaller salary cap hit.

Meh. It's probably going to end up being unspectacular either way.

Baldwin is better. He has poor hands but he gets open and can be functional. Jenkins can not.

What is Jenkins deal, I mean REALLY? A 1st round pick, on a WR needy squad, cant even get on the field?

It was the same story for Baldwin in Kansas City.

Both teams had very high hopes for their guy and both guys have been big disappointments for their teams.

How bad was Jenkins that Harbaugh and Balke had to admit they blew a 1st rounder? I know for a coach like Holmgren it'd take that player being caught with kiddie porn...nothing less.

Well, they got a first round player in return for their first round player. Baldwin has been just as bad in KC.

They both have no hands but Baldwin is the better blocker, I think that's why they got rid of Jenkins for him.

Yeah, but Baldwin being shipped isn't that odd. New regime, new QB, new offense, oh and that Dwayne Bowe guy.

Jenkins though...?

Wow, the Niners really DID give up on AJ Jenkins that quickly.

I still subscribe to the three-year rule for WRs. Golden Tate looked about as lost as AJ Jenkins at one point, after all (though Tate did start to get it together by the point that AJ Jenkins is at now, to be fair).

The Niner's don't have time to wait for Jenkins, if they had some depth at WR I don't think they'd mind stashing him for another season but they don't. When Kyle Williams is your #2 you got problems.

IMO, a savvy move by Baalke. Jon Baldwin has way more upside, at least in terms of physical talent. This move could pay off in spades down the road.

A bust for a bust…good move Harbaugh.

I wonder if the Niners are going to have some serious concerns at the WR position this year?

Baldwin has the size, speed and strength and that is where it ends. To date nobody talks about his work ethic, intelligence and/or hands. I remember liking him coming out of college, although his attitude got in the way of him trying to improve. I hope he keeps that going a little longer as if he decides he wants to learn his position and become a NFL player, he has all the characteristics to make him a true #1...sky is the limit. I don't like this move as a seahawks fan.

I don't see how this is a good move for Frisco. Baldwin has had more time and done nothing with it. This is equal to the DE trade we did a few years ago.

Might show more to support your case but would you want to work for the QB's the Chiefs have had? :D

There's an industrial-sized amount of 9er Orwellian revisionism going on over on the PFT comment thread...
