Easy to blame the OC everytime something goes wrong but let's not forget the players in this one.

He did nothing to slow down the rush. Zero adjustments.
Sometime the blame is warranted....

There were intermediate routes with open receivers as Collingsworth pointed out, showing one example (Metcalf). I saw Russ holding the ball a long, long time.

It's absurd to just blame coaches when you can't see 90% of what is going on during TV broadcast. Coaches film will be analyzed soon. And it will be interesting.

As others have pointed out, this seemed like a pretty comprehensive failure shared by everyone wearing the Seahawk uniform. A weird occurence and hopefully abberation - not like anything I've seen in a long, long while.

Russ had a hard time seeing open receivers. Metcalf in particular had a great game. He was open A LOT, especially over the middle. We were running a lot of crossers as well, Wilson had a hard time identifying open receivers open the middle. I don't think this was Schotty's worse game, but I don't think it was that great either. I would have like to see more of a short passing game to supplement our run game and to help our struggling offensive line.

I think we also tried too hard to get the run game going, particular early on. Russ came out of the gate looking really strong. I think that three run and punt drive really killed any sort of momentum that we did have in the passing game.

Both Schottenheimer and Wilson had a poor game, but Schottenheimer also had a few good plays dialed up. Those crossing routes he was running over the middle were open all day, Russell just was unable to identify them. Collinsworth in particular seemed a bit miffed about Wilson not seeing those. He sounded frustrated which I found kind of funny because he obviously is not a Hawk fan.

Blaming play calls is too easy . The Hawks were beaten at almost every level of play . They played like they were already in the playoffs and took the day off .

Yeah, because crappy play calling had NOTHING to do with them losing. Rams play calling was MUCH better than what Shotty put out there. Sure it was a team wide crap sammich, but the play calling was pathetic on offense compared to what the Rams had. And it wasn't even close.

If it's mostly about coaching then the Hawks will be 1 and done in postseason . I feel that players make plays and win games most of the time ; not coaches . just my opinion.

Fair enough. I'm just used to your opinion always being a negative take towards the Hawks. And that's fine, do you.

Football is as much about effort as it is scheme, playcalling and personnel.

What I saw Sunday night was a tired banged up Hawks team that couldn't match the Ram's intensity, speed nor could it match their desperation.

The first game we did match all these things, and we won. This time around it didn't happen, and we got steamrolled by a desperate healthy fully motivated and focused team that was playing for their playoff lives.

Absolutely, they flat out looked tired. Rams were motivated and frankly had a lot more to play for. They were better team on Monday night. But they can be beaten, and already have by the Hawks.

Bs.

They didn’t have more to play for. HFA is pretty great not to mention incentive bonuses, MVP bragging rights, beating the Rams that always give fits.

By this logic every one the Hawks play to the end of regular season has more to play for.

It’s okay to admit we have a lot of good talent playing in some sucky schemes. The better team won. Next week maybe the schemes don’t suck so much and the better team wins.

Whatever you say. They have their backs against the wall and are clinging to their playoff lives.
Yes, they DID have more to play for. Hawks still control their own destiny even AFTER losing and the Niners winning.
Rams had everything to play for. And they played a hell of a game.
And the better team THAT NIGHT won. I'll take the Hawks if they play again. Bring it on.

While I am usually a Schotty critic, I think there is plenty of blame to go around on this one.

He called a crap game. But he also doesn't coach the Defense. And they were owned a good portion of the night.
