Naw man, it's me! 400! Not Diags. Wasn't bustin' yer balls there, actually had your back in a sense. I just don't like using those little yellow dudes.

Haha it's all good man! Seriously though, I didn't hate the 49ers until this dude started talking major trash after they swept us in 06 or 07, whenever it was. Maybe I would have learned to hate them on my own anyway, but he jump-started it. He's who I think of when I feel joy or pain based on what the 9ers do. His big fat face.

Cool.

Gotta admit, the OP opened up a deep rabbit hole. A twisty/turny one at that. I'd get into it if he and I were having a beer at a bar or something, but i just aint got that much jazz for it here.

Queue Al Pacino voice...

Their past glory makes them think their sh!t doesn't stink, that they're above us as a franchise and a fan base, that we're an underachieving joke and how dare we even compete. How they're more steeped in tradition. How their forefathers insights and talents have culminated into 5 golden rings. That they are part of NFL lore and should take their rightful place on the pedestal of greatness. Those perceptions are then assumed and perpetuated by the myriads of mindless and delusional imbeciles with entitlement complexes. Then add in the pure hate and rivalry the coaches and players feel towards each other which has materialized in the most epic of battles. That has filtered down to the fans. We all have our collective eyes on the same prize and there must only be one victor. If you don't hate your enemy. Then they're not your enemy.

I hate every team in the AFC West more then I hate the 9ers. Especially the Donkeys and horse face.

Its a competitive sport therefore its nice to have more relevant divisional dislikes.

This year it'll be the Niners.

The next it'll be the Rams I'm sure.

I personally don't dislike the "Niners". In fact, I used to want them to win before we were moved into their division.

For me, it is the fans. Sure, we run across a few that are cool people, but no culture takes on the image of its exceptions.

Once we got to know the general population, that is all it took. Like any football fans, they have their homers, but when I realized that most of them lived in a totally alternate reality, it just made it worse.

For 8 years, that organization mastered in SUCK. Yet every time the Hawks played them, they were going to destroy them. It was the celebration of injury to SA and Hasselbeck. When Willis speared Hass in the back, they cheered for his exit.

It was the expectation of honoring their team for 20 year old accomplishments during a time that it was embarrassing to be a Niner.

Very easy to hate.

Because red and gold do NOT go well together; the logo is weak and without personality. Those who would wear such things do so in full knowledge that they will be disliked.

Go Hawks!

Great turn of phrase there loaf. And it's like JSeahawks said, until 2 1/2 years ago, they were all Raiders fans.

And Raiders fans are really easy to dislike, starting with us dominating them all year until losing to them (embarrasingly badly) in the AFC Championship (so, so close to the Superbowl, and for such a young team too!). Then a whole lifetime of seeing poser wanna-bes wearing Raiders gear to show they are "tough".

For me living in Northern California, you trip over fans of those 2 Bay Area teams everywhere you go, and they are almost always an entitled, ungracious and generally knowledge bereft group of fans. We have our own examples of such ilk of course, as all teams DO, but it just seems rare to run into fans of either of those teams that have a nuanced, unhomerish view on ANYTHING about their teams.

All things which I strive towards, just so I can be a bit realistic in my expectations of how the upcoming season (s) will go.

Just my :twocents:

Why is the sky blue, and the grass green? It just is.

I hate the 49ers and their ketchup red and mustard yellow uniforms. I hate their cocky fans that always seem to want to rag on Seattle for well...just about anything and everything. I hate them for their inability to admit they aren't the center of the football universe. I hate them for coming into our house and disrespecting the place, our fans and our team. Bottom line...there are a lot reasons to hate the 49ers and their irritating fans, too many really. They are our division rivals...what are we supposed to do play patty cake with them? No. We hate them because it's our duty, nay our privilege to hate them. :49ersmall:

Because the 9rs fans, Coaches and players alike, abe a bunch of assholes.
They've never given respect to ANY Seahawks players, Coaches, or owners, let alone the great 12th man or Seahawks fans.

All they want to rag on, is the 9rs SB glory days, and how the Seachickens are nothing but pretenders.
They've been OWNED by the Seahawks for the last 10 Years,,BUT, now that they are back in the running, they are talking out their asses, and saying that they are back to claim their rightfull place at the top of NFC again, and all I have to say about that is, 9rs SUCK,,, PROVE IT,,GOT YOUR ASSES HANDED TO YOU IN Seattle,,,Get used to sucking hind titty again.
Good Day.

Even the NFL considers the 49ers the Empire to our Rebel Alliance. Anyone remember that preview video for the 49ers @ Seahawks match-up where they presented Wilson as a Jedi, and the 49ers as Emperor Palpatine, etc.? I can't find it for the life of me. :(

We humiliated them at our house.

When we were crushing them they become somewhat more deserving of pity and shame.

That made me want to defile them in a different kind of manner.

Why dislike the 49ers team ( their FO, players, and coaches) for the actions of their fans? You guys surely wouldn't change your opinion about your political leanings or your opinion of your favorite TV show because a 49er fan likes it. Why do it with their football team?

This is the same line of thinking that lead people to think Kings and tyrants were necessary and divine, women and certain races inferior, and just about every other socioeconomic, ideological, and cultural issue of past and present. You may not wish to make the connection and dismiss it because of the context but ignorance is still ignorance. The sky isn't blue and grass isn't green. We perceive the sky to be blue and we perceive grass to be green. Nothing involving people just is.

Sherman disrespects people and he's an ******* too. He does in the media and on the field. It's a part of his game and even those who dislike this part of his personality love the guy for his play. If Sherman gets a pass, why doesn't a single member of the 49ers squad in your view?

Cuz Sherman is one of ours and at times is a mouth piece for the 12th man.

About the 9er players, they're soft, and winers, how can you even remotely like them? Davis is the softest dude ever, my grandma goes harder than that girl of a man. Kaepernick was a loser by default as soon as he kissed his bicep, tell me one thing about the players there is to like? I can't. The whole organization and fans just suck in general. Screw em, I don't even like the fact I gotta share the same air with them.

So we dislike players who aren't contractually obligated to play for us? If the 49ers are indeed soft, then how come they're one of the better teams at power running when soft teams usually suck at running the ball?

Some great answers in here! I really like Rasta's and Loaf's but seriously why in the truckstick is this even a question on a sports forum at all? At least the niner asked WHERE did it come from not WHY...
The OP sounds like it should be on some anti tackle football PTA forum "Whyyyee do people enjoy sports hate? Why not go enjoy a book or some jelly beans"
This is a violent game and it attracts personalities that enjoy that kind of rigorous rivalry for all of the reasons already mentioned.
If that original post was a Simpsons character, it would get beat up by Millhouse.

Side note: I once had a niner fan try to tell me that THEY should be America's team because the "people from the gold rush were the first ones in America"...I shit you not.

DEATH TO THE INFIDEL!!!
(sports death that is)

Because Sherm is one of us, and not one of them. It's WAR. Don't side with the enemy. That's never ok.
