So pemedic, where is this blocking you can drive a Minibus through with no mudflaps and get 10 yards a pop in the Seahawks offense, that means needing 5 olinemen, two TE's or blocking WR and or a FB. If you don't have all 9 of those then maybe a really good RB that makes up for lacking some of those is cheaper and easier to get in one off season.
Well, we're returning our entire O-line this season, along with several of our backups. Our TE room is also coming back, whose members are all pretty good blockers as well as pass catchers. Outz should be healthy as well.

Sounds like "9" to me. :)

The only starters we lost in FA were K9 and Bryant, both have capable backups, neither were stars. Lawrence is the only other one that may surprise us if he retires. Whomever comes in via draft or FA will come in as a backup or a contributor. We are not in a position where we need someone one to elevate a position group to be competitive.

We will win the SB again because 90% of our SB winning team is returning and the strength of this team -- the defense -- is entering its 3rd year in the same system.

I feel our biggest risk (as it was last year) is how long it takes for the OC to install his offense, if he has the chops to make in-game adjustments once defensive game plans take things away, and if he can adapt his offense as the season progresses and teams 'solve' what he's done in the previous weeks.

Our OL was top 50% in run blocking by the end of the season...possibly top-10 during the playoffs and SB. I think the point is you don't have to have an elite RB that makes plays on their own when the OL & scheme enable a capable RB.

The OL is the 4th youngest in the NFL and those positions are some of the longest to "get it" on NFL rosters. I think we'll improve on the OL and our RB's will be effective, but it will look different.

Unlike Pete's team, this team relies more heavily on scheme and coaching than simply "out talenting" their opponent. MM is the defensive equivalent of Shanahan and McVay. I believe he can create any scheme if needed to disrupt any offense. You need a HOF elite QB like Stafford with ridiculous accuracy to put up points against MM's defensive schemes. Most teams the Seahawks will play simply don't have that luxury.

I have complete confidence in MM--he is the difference maker.

The offense will be the wildcard this season. That said, common sense dictates that the new OC does not need to change much from Kubiak's offensive schemes. But we've all seen the result of OC changes throughout the league--some good, some bad.

I think the Seahawks and Rams duke it out again for NFC supremacy....but we will need that one seed again to make it happen. Without the one seed it will be harder to repeat--not impossible but definitely tougher.

Count me among those who believe that K9 is getting underrated here and that Zach's injury leaves his departure a bigger deal. I also think Coby is going to be missed more than people realize.

I don't think there's any doubt we'll be a contender in 2026, with a decent shot to win it all again. There was nobody in the conference in 2026 with the roster, the resilience, and the execution to rival ANYONE in the NFC West. Injury luck took out the 49ers.

In the end, though, Super Bowl runs are made of individual plays deciding games. Only takes one going the other way and the Rams win it all last year. It's a tightrope act.

I just happened to read this today, and it goes along with having Schneider and Macdonald, particular Macdonald and the staff. Being smart and prepared doesn't just go away. If we can find guys who can adequalty fill in at RB, and the secondary, barring crappy injury luck, no reason we can't be back with a staff that prepares the team like this.
I wonder if when they are deiciding who to keep and bringing in free agents, if that football IQ is something they rate high

This IS the 'circle jerk' thread. If you want to jerk it outside the circle, there's that other thread about why we WON'T repeat.
I enjoy both threads. We cant cover everything individually…they give us a collective of opinions, some justified and others lame. I absorb the informed posts and move past the others (most of the time 🙂).

A more active off-season thread. Keep the site alive all year long.

I keep thinking of Russell Crowe yelling: "Are you not entertained?"
Personally, I like the discussions during this part of the year best of all. Looking forward to JS's surprises.

If you're looking for positives the schedule might be a good place to start. As the NFC West champion the Seahawks will now play the winners of the AFC East, NFC South, and NFC North. Normally a 1st place schedule provides an extra obstacle. However, the AFC East champion is expected to be the 2nd best team in that division, the NFC South champion is expected to be the 3rd best team in that division, and the NFC North champion is expected to be the 3rd best team in that division. The teams projected to be the best teams in those divisions are all scheduled to play the 2nd place Rams. Enjoy.

PLUS, our OLine Coach is coming back...and remember the RB Coaching change that coincided with the crazy increase in our running game? Yeah, that guy's coming back too!

And have you watched the highlight tape of the kid we got from Green Bay?!

John without Pete has made a huge difference, it's paid off in gold

It's a regular circle jerk in here.
Indeed. Not gonna go over things here, but barring a stellar draft i expect our offense and defense to both regress a little bit. We may very well be fighting for a wild card spot instead of marching through our schedule like last year. They made it look too easy. If we win the super bowl next season it will actually be a slog, and no one will be saying "this doesn't even feel real."
