Neal and Diggs don't play the same safety position.

I'm fine with Diggs. He can still ball, and is an important leader on the defense..........and if we're being honest and listing all the players and problems on the defense? He's like #17.
I know that I’m just saying if I’m keeping anyone on the back end it’s Neal. I’m moving on from Diggs at 18 and Adams doesn’t even figure in to my plans. But it’s a valid point he’s near the bottom of the list in so far as a problem on the defense. But damn 18 million?

I hear ya, but at least Diggs is playing, unlike his fellow safety who's the 3rd highest paid safety in the entire league and is broken.

If the Hawks use a pick on a stud free safety? Then yeah, maybe Diggs is expendable and you look at restructuring him. Probably not cutting him even then, 8M cap hit in 2023.

BARTON, DIGGS, GABE JACKSON, GENO IF HE COMMANDS A BUNCH OF MONEY
You're going to dump Diggs?? WTH? Guy had 50 solo tackles, a forced fumble, 4 pics and 7 passes defensed. You don't get rid of that guy.

Barton, Adams, both offensive guards, all interior D lineman, center.
You absolutely don't dump Adams, that's crazy talk. Many more issues to deal with. Maybe if he comes back from the knee injury and he's lost his game then maybe after next season. Way too early to talk about that now.

It might be best to change the title to "Who should we keep", the rest can go.

Barton
LJ Collier
Jefferson

I wanna see Penny back on a low-cost deal and draft RB depth. Blythe is serviceable and savvy, could be a good guy to play for a year while coaching up a drafted C to take over

Barton is a solid special teams player and backup in a pinch. He can stay on the team as a non-starter until his rookie deal is finished.

We need to handle the bloated contracts first: Jackson, Adams, Diggs, Harris. none should be back at their current salaries.

Then we can let some useless free agents test the market like Collier, Lock, Burns. re-sign the decent free agents like Neal, Penny, Geno and Myles Adams.

And trade DT. He's much higher on my disappointment list than Barton. He's the worst edge setter I've ever seen. Brooks and Barton might have looked better if the DL was better at gaps and edges. Oh and Poona needs to go if we are sticking with the 3-4. Just not the right body.

Diggs cap hit in 2023 is $18.1M https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/seattle... Diggs will earn, dead cap value of $8,200,000.
Cutting him saves us $9.8M. Definitely worth it especially if https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Brian-Branch-DB-Alabama is there at 20.

Like I said, if we draft a stud free safety? Then I'm all ears for cutting Diggs.

But until that happens? You cut him without a very good replacement? You just made the back end of your defense the worst in the entire league. It's literally WHY we traded for him in the first place. You guys forget the Tedric Thompson years? Cause I don't.

-- Obviously for me, it's Barton, and it isn't close. He has it physically, but his instincts are some of the worst I have seen. I really don't understand the Diggs hate. I assume it is the cap hit, but you have a known commodity, that isn't in a downward trend. I think he had a good year.
