What did you expect this year?

I was expecting 7 wins. Seattle's staff is inexperienced all around, some of which don't even have NFL experience. Grubb and Harbaugh in particular looks like they've taken a bit of a beating trying to transition to the NFL.

MM himself has experience as a DC, but being a HC is a whole different game than being a DC. Some HC's don't even bother with the X's and O's. John Harbaugh in particular got an HC gig as a special teams coach. You don't need to be an elite play caller, but you do need to have vision and management skills. This is why we see great coordinators flame out as HC's.

In this case, we have a bunch of guys that are brand new to their respective positions at the NFL level all culminating together. This is a concern that I voiced back in the offseason and we're seeing the results right now. I really wish MM would have hired an experienced DC to guide him through the transition, or perhaps a OC that had some NFL experience under his belt.

Things aren't coming together just yet, it's messy and expect for it to be messy before we finally get it. It'll be a work in progress with ebs and flows.

It's funny.
I expected our defense to improve but our offense to struggle. I expected the secondary to be solid to exceptional, but our passing to regress.

Instead our defense is struggling, our secondary is now our biggest weakness (along with LB and OL), and somehow our offense is putting up points despite one of the worst OL in the league.

The frustrating thing (beyond how insanely bad our defense is) really lies in where the team is now vs where it started. 6 wins in, you expect to see improvement. I am seeing regression.
Sure the opponents are better, but we are doing things that bad teams do....repeatedly.

I didn't expect to go to the playoffs until Year 3, but I expected to be in the wildcard race in Year 2 and our team to be solidifying and improving by mid-year. Instead we are getting worse, players are making mistakes they didn't make before, and players who USED to be good are struggling now. It's almost like they are different people.

I've stopped expecting wins, but worse - I've stopped expecting improvement. Kind of resigned to what we have.
Makes sense, we were a top team for near a decade. You cannot stay at the top forever.

They had a chance to beat the two best teams in the NFC. Maybe we’re not as bad as people think?

I think chance is pushing it. It was close in the third quarter, but both teams blew the top off of the Seahawks pretty quickly. The concerning bit was not even forcing a single incompletion for Goff. This team clearly is not Patriots bad, but we're clearly not good either. You could use that same logic and say that we barely squeezed past the Patriots.

This is all beside the point. I'm not looking for good vs. bad, I want to see how the team progresses more than anything throughout the season. I want to see how the players react to MM and I want to start seeing his system start to come together. It works, we've seen it for the last few years on the Ravens and even in the NCAA ranks. He's had a history of building strong defenses. I want to see if he can reign things in as the season goes along. The defense has been awful on many different levels this season.

Well we were driving to take the lead in the niner game, I’d say that’s a chance and you were kicking to tie the game up for a most likely OT game against Detroit? You may very well be right but I think we’re decent and the giants game will be an outlier.

You didn’t post a thing after a 3-0 start yet after a couple of losses you’re in here running victory laps about Pete Carroll. You’re not a fan of the team you’re a fan of Pete Carroll.
I Know. I didnt watch the Seahawks when i was 5 running around in a Curt Warner jersey. How about being in school being made fun of being a Sea-Chicken fan in the 90s rooting for Tez, Eugene Robinson, Sam Adams, Chris Warren, etc.

I remember hearing Rick Mirer was the next Joe Montana. How about going to Cheney Camps for the Seahawks. How about Steve Broussard? Should i keep naming players I watched?

You sound ignorant and know nothing about me. Get out your feelings.

Going through your search history and actually the nerve for you to say anything to anyone about being a fan. You hated on PC from 2019 on. You basked in his failures and wanted him fired. You talking about whose a fan? Ya, kill that noise.

And ya I or any Hawks fan should love Pete for bringing a title to Seattle and producing the best stretch ever here. I wont drag him through the mud. Like you did.

Just like Coach Mike and Coach Knox.

I want MM to be the best as it means the Hawks are winning and winning multiple chips. Why? Cuz Im a fan of the team.

You from 2019 on sounded like PC pissed in your cereal. It sounds like your more wanting this coach to win not because its YOUR TEAM but to show that PC should have been fired long ago and how right you were.

After the NE game I was worried since they ran for 183. I was hoping to make the playoffs. Now I don’t think they win more than 5 games. Next 2 they don’t have a shot. If they lose 5 in a row they won’t win another game all year.

Guess getting the first overall pick or close to it is good.

You’re getting weird. I was vocal about wanting to move on from Pete as were many on this forum. I’ve also stated repeatedly the whole time he’s an all time great who brought us our best ever football success.

You realize multiple things can be true right? You can be an all time great coach and after a while it’s good for the team to move on?

Since you’re trying to remove fan cards and calling people bubs(who does that anymore lol) if me or HG or anyone else is only rooting for the Seahawks to win because we hated Pete, which let’s be honest is a goofy theory, why are we still posting after they lost 3 straight and you….ONLY post after they lost 3 straight? Isn’t it weird you were silent when they won 3 out of the gate and you, as a Seahawks fan had nothing to say about it?

I hope you can post when they win or lose moving forward and prove us all wrong. Seems odd though

You went through my post history, you didn’t post at all during the first 3 games of the month Pete Carroll era but run victory laps after 3 losses which makes it obvious you’re rooting for them to lose and you’re saying we’re not true fans?

Answer this, If you’re a fan of the team why didn’t you say anything about their success the first 3 weeks?

So JS is a idiot and so are analysts?

If they believe the roster has the talent to contend than yes. All you have to do is watch the games for visual proof. The trenches are getting dominated yet again, can't run the ball due to the Oline, Smith is under constant pressure, the LB corp is weak and bad, the secondary is overrated, the pass rush is poor, and even the special teams is suspect. There's a lot of work to be done before this team could ever contend.

And most of the roster was inherited. They had one draft to try to fix things, a bad cap situation and some of their draft capital was traded away the year before. It may take some time

I always go in hoping for a W/L record that may sound preposterous to some.

Wishful thinking? Power in words/belief?

I’m not sure what the issue is. No one likes to lose. If you predicted we’d go 5-12…and you end up being right, do I buy you a cookie?

When it plays out differently than you thought, you hope for the next best thing…

A defeatist attitude on your end does not have to predicate anticipation or discernment on mine.

Oz, non illegitimo carborundum, the usual negative voices have to vent.

Pitt is a huge fan of the team but to him everything remotely connected to the Carroll regime is evil, and as usual the team sucks as a result thereof. He’s constantly a glass half or glass totally empty thinker.

I am one who posted my unhappiness earlier here in this thread, there is little doubt the D has sucked and the OLine is seriously disappointing had expect better, an absent running attack and rather consistent poor tackling. However, there have been glimmers of change for the better and while my expectations for the season are presently under prevision I see the team headed in the right direction.

I find myself this morning wanting to sing that Monty Python song “Always look on the bright side of life”.

It is early but I did not expect our defense to look this bad. The pass coverage is bad and the run defense is non existent. I'm hoping the reason is it takes time for the players to learn the scheme and also just not having the talent on defense. The front 7 talent seems to be an issue and after Witherspoon and possibly Woolen the our corners are awful.

I expected a slightly below average 7 win team. A team that would take a significant step back on offense due to offseason departures, partially offset by a smaller step forward on defense. A team that would be competitive in most games but would generally fall short when playing the better teams.

Gee, thanks Jammer. Lol

I don't hate everything Pete Carroll related. The guy won us a Super Bowl. I just recognized years ago that the team would never reach those heights again under his direction and the organization wasted years sticking with him. A lot of other people didn't agree with me and thought he would turn it around. So that's where we're at.
