Look, I get that everyone wants to see the team win games right off the bat for a new coaching staff, but you need to look at the big picture. They were handed a terrible offensive line and lost maybe their best player on that line in Abe Lucas who likely will never play again. On the defensive side of the ball, they had no returning inside linebackers, an average at best defensive line, and still somewhat unproven outside linebackers. Even at the safety and corner positions, there were a lot of questions.

People are asking for the impossible right now, which is an entirely new coaching staff with an overall average to below average roster to come in and win consistently. It ain’t gonna happen. The coaching staff needs at least two years to turn the roster before anyone here should demand major improvement. In two years from now, if the same crap is being displayed on the field, then by all means fire away. In the meantime, don’t expect much, and let them do what they have to do which unfortunately takes time.

Now go grab a beer and relax!

I think a lot of us were dazzled by the 3-0 start. The defense was dominant. The offense seemed to be doing what needed to be done. Now that we've had time to go up against better teams our warts are showing.

I came into the season with a "Let's see what they can do" attitude and was elated for the first three games. Now, it feels like the wheels have come off and we're careening down East Roy Street in an ice storm with no soft landing place. It doesn't feel good knowing the real crash hasn't even happened yet.

Then I take a deep breath and think "we knew the next few years were going to be hard. Buckle up, Buttercup! It's okay to do other things on football day."

Here come the straw men! It's that special time in every justifiably-frustrating losing streak where those who had hoped the team would play with pride are censured for the championship aspirations they never actually expressed...

Was anybody honestly spouting about championship aspirations? Playoffs maybe, but even then a lot of us said to slow down on those hopes.

At 3-0 there were definitely some that were saying it doesn’t matter the level of competition they just played as you still need to win the games and thought that the team was going to go a lot farther than originally perceived.

To be honest, probably not, but my points are far less dramatic if I don't hyperbolize.

I do recall a fair amount of predictions of win totals well into the double-digits though, as well as comments questioning the fandom of those who suggested the possibility of an adjustment year.

Peteball for the last 5+ years at least:

Inability to stop the run and making back-up running backs look like All-pros.
No creative blitzes and zero ability to confuse or consistently get to the quarterback.
Geno being a statue in the pocket and making game altering mistakes, while pouting on the sidelines. DK pouting on the sidelines while he drops everything and evidentially his fumbilitis hit JSN now.
Can't run the ball consistently versus any good team and the O-line get's punched in the mouth versus any team worth a damn.
Special teams has now regressed and now is a liability (FG block last game and we got lucky on the thumb touching). Constant dumb mistakes.

Has any of this really improved over this season? I feel like I watch the same thing every year over and over and honestly just worn out watching our opponents have 45+ min of possession a game. Maybe it will improve as time goes on with MM and he brings his guys in over the next few years, and I'm willing to be patient, but it feels like we've regressed every week, which should be the complete opposite with a "genius" rookie head-coach.

I don't know why I bought into the MM hype. This team is way harder to watch than any Pete team. MM looks like he has aged five years already. I thought the Lynch and MM sideline interaction to be kind of awkward. Why is a former player on the sidelines putting hands on our coach. It just felt weird like he doesn't have control.

Yup. And just a friendly reminder to the new bandwagon folks here on the forum. Us Seahawks die hards already know this. Petey boy was beyond terrible when he started here. Back to Back losing season. 3rd year everything turned around. Macdonald is a phenomenal football mind, we'll get this figured out. Everyone needs to relax a little bit and breath.

Honestly, last year we BARELY missed the playoffs. I expected at least to not regress. This team has regressed seriously and the head coach is in way over his head. The OC is needing to go back to the collage game as well, he's not NFL ready.

I do not believe this team is capable of winning more than 7 total games, more likely 5-6. We're bottom 10, but not so bad we'll get a good draft spot. Probably draft like 10th.

I expected better of the OL and Grubb, I want to feel like the best is yet
to come but it's testing me tbh.
As for the D with so many injuries and a batch of Pete players, I really
cannot slam them too much yet.

They fired Pete believing this was a Playoff team. There should no excuses if they miss the playoffs then. It is a failure if they miss the playoffs. Doesnt mean Mike needs to be fired as he is young but it is a failure. The people who said this team would be better without Pete are now scrambling for excuses as team is .500. It could flip back and be just fine.

"With such a talented roster, if the Seahawks, under new guidance again fail to make the playoffs, there will be a far bigger feeling of "disappointment" around the organization.
Seattle missed the playoffs after being one of the NFC favorites in preseason and Schneider and the front office will no doubt be working tirelessly to make sure history doesn't repeat itself in 2024."

This team is better without Pete. I fully believe that. He wouldn’t be doing any better with the roster he built for his scheme. It’s going to take Macdonald some time and the season is still young.
