What are the Seahawks missing?

We're missing elite talent in the middle of our oline and a QB. Geno has done well enough in the interim but now it's time to upgrade this front line and start looking for a new QB. No matter what happens the rest of the year.

Cowherd just did a segment saying the Seahawks failed when they didn’t trade up for a quarterback last draft and I agree. Even if you’re a huge Geno fan he’s at an age where if you can get one early you have to take it
I don't think it's smart to trade up for a QB with the holes on offensive and defensive line

How so? Sounds like a recipe to ruin a young QB.
Depends on the Qb. Last year Washington had one of the worse lines in football. They get Daniel's and now the line isn't so bad. Same with Denver last year thier oline wasn't one of the best. But bring in a mobile Qb and it takes alot of the stress off the oline. Nowa days you don't need a dominant oline. Unless you have a Qb like Goff

If you have a chance to upgrade your quarterback, you do it. As far as waiting until we fill the holes along the o line before acquiring a QB, why not try to do both at the same time? We are talking about interior players here. These are not typically guys you need to spend super high draft pick on. Unless your name is John Schneider, it shouldn't be rocket science.

We should have drafted several mid round QBs over the past 10 years. That was one of the biggest failures of the Carroll era IMO - it could have changed the whole dynamic with Russ in a positive way for the team, and if we hit on some promising players we would have had trade fodder.

I still think we should keep Geno. But we should draft a promising prospect at QB, no need to start his rookie year but someone who will be able to compete in his second year.

I wanted Penix so bad and I think he’s going to be a monster. Rumors are that Seattle did try to trade up for him but not sure how hard or if it’s true.

Good post!
I wouldn’t doubt Seattle tried but probably not enough ammo in return.

I’m normally with you but I think Penix is going to be a superstar and if so it’s worth it. You can still attack the line with other picks and FA

Seeing J Daniels run and remembered Geno gave himself up 1 yard short with no real defender on him in a game they needed to win

That’s the difference. One guy has courage, the other is just a chicken playing QB

I would bet that has more to do with coaching, I don't think their lines were as bad as the stats indicate. Both teams changed coaches. Kingsbury and Quinn are huge upgrades. Payton also knows how to run an offense that helps his QB.

We've had years of Oline neglect which kind of changed recently, we'll see how this draft goes. We need a coordinator who knows how to get the most out of what he's got. If Grubb stays then a new QB will get killed

The Hawks likely could have traded up in last year's draft to get either Penix, Nix, or McCarthy. Picks 5-8 were all possible trade partners, none of them looking to draft a QB. They decided, if such a thing was truly on their radar screen, that the cost was too high in their opinion.

I don't think it's as easy as that with Denver's oline. One of the first things Sean Payton did was go to work fixing the oline. They also had a new offensive line coach. Paid for two guys in free agency. It was dramatically improved in 2023 and then they returned the same five guys, building continuity.

I haven't really followed Washington, but they have three different starters from last seaon. I have no doubt a mobile QB helps an oline, but I doubt it's going to drastically make a shit one into a solid one.

Right, if we’re drafting find a qb worth snagging in the first we take him, and a lineman next.
If the lineman comes first then second hopefully a qb

I know this is an aggregate stat line, but Washington went from the 25th ranked offense in 2023 to the 5th ranked offense in 2024. I think Jayden Daniels had a lot to do with it. Just guessing.
