We won’t suck! We need to fill a few spots, but this team is still loaded.

How many times did we have to fill out game day with a guy from the ready squad? Even corner which seemed crazy. Most of the coaches are coming back. Need a new RB, and a speedster at WR.

On Special Teams, I’m eager to see what a full year of strength and eating right does for Ricky White. Horton needs to stay healthy, but he would be a big boost if he can play a full season.

Defensively, this team needs corners, but I have a feeling Mike will get his guys in there.

No, the sky is not falling. This team will compete next year.

a defense this good ensures you won't suck. 9 wins is the worst case scenario. You will be in every game.

They had to lower the bar (to 13) to get a couple of those guys in.

I don't see how anyone could think we'll suck next year. K9 or not.
The starters are good, but the depth is questionable. Lose Darnold and Smith-Njigba to injury and this offense might struggle more than the defense could cope with. Obviously that's an extreme that I don't think will happen, but at least 1 team suffering something similar is almost an inevitability.

I'm actually almost in agreement with you on this. I think running backs are underpaid compared to some other positions, but unless it's a basically irreplaceable rb, you gotta stick with salary guidelines for that position - JS has been fantastic about finding good running backs in the lower rounds, and I can assure you he'll do it again when K9 leaves. Also, it was the K9/Charbs combo that worked so perfectly - Charbonnet is injured, so the new combination is going to be different even if we sign K9.

But, getting back to answering your post: if Darnold gets injured.
So, Chris Carson and who else in the "lower rounds?"

I would argue that Mora's season was an Era,more like a stumble.

Because we are masochists that expect pain.

Because we didn’t keep (x) player/s
Because (x) player/s didn’t take “hometown discount”
Because we didn’t draft (x) player/s
Because we didn’t sign (x) FA player/s
Because we didn’t trade for (x) player/s
Because we didn’t get (x) coach (oc)

Think that sums it up

1. We're going to lose K9 over $2-3M. Huge gamble.

Minor gamble. RB is the simplest position to replace with college ranks literally flooded with solid players at that position.

K9 is a platoon back. Too fragile to be a bell cow. No need to overpay for a RBBC player. Would I love to have him back? Sure but not at a premium price.
