It wasn't too long ago that scalping, i.e. reselling tickets, was illegal. The law was changed to make it easier for fans to resell tickets that they couldn't use. But now people are taking advantage of the situation to make money.

It's a complex problem. Some say the problem is that the tickets are too expensive, but if the price is too low, then it actually gives the ticket holder more incentive to sell because the profit from reselling becomes larger.

Most people are going to do whatever benefits them the most, so we can't rely on ticket holders "doing the right thing." But we all hate to see the stadium taken over by opposing fans, so I think we do want the team to step in to try to implement reasonable measures to prevent resales.

This is complete BS

They flex games at a moments notice and now try to make it hard to resell the tickets because you can no longer make it because of the schedule change. People have jobs, liv out of town, book hotels and on and on just to find out on a Thursday that they changed the time and date of the game. Now they want to make it harder for you to resell at a moments notice. BS all the way.

What is wrong with selling tickets to others? The Organization is as cutthroat as can be, and acts like it is offended.
I don’t care if some Seahawks fan sells a random ticket here and there. I care that some non Seahawks fan business buys season tickets and sells EVERY weeks tickets.

I see it as a middle management problem. Competition right? Squeeze every nickel. That's how you get 19 dollar beers. Look how we screwed the consumer but they are still showing up in droves.

Reminds me Tom Petty’s “The Last DJ” when he sings:

As we celebrate mediocrity
All the boys upstairs want to see
How much you’ll pay for
What you used to get for free

Except for, the teams sells tickets for corporations. Special boxes for the inhumans who are not persons but a corporation. Maybe not have those types of seats, and sell only to actual fans....BUTT, the NFL is addicted to ever increasing billions of $$$$'s, and now they pretend to care about the fans. They ONLY care that the seats are full, doesn't matter what team they support. In short, they do not GAF, except to posture and scare true Blue n Green fans from selling tickets.

A couple of thoughts on this issue.
As Lumen was being constructed, many STH’s were allowed to buy PSL’s for the new stadium. Once purchased, that person “owned” the license to the seats. If that person gets disqualified from buying ST’s , what type of compensation should they get?
Secondly, we went 2-14 in 1992. We were sold out, but no one had interest in going to a game. Any remedy for the STH’rs who lost out due to no demand?

Love it. Last year was BS. If you only want to root and support your team when they're winning, you probably shouldn't be a season ticket holder. Sell them to someone who will support them through thick and thin.

Such an odd take. Looking at the season ticket turnover, most STH have been supporting them through thick and thin. We wouldn't have a blue pride waiting list 80,000 deep if that weren't the case.

People seem to be conflating reselling tickets as equal to not supporting the team, which isn't fair. That cloth cuts both ways: if the team isn't respecting the time/money STH have put into this team for decades with the product they put on the field, you aren't going to get fans into the seats either way. As much as everyone is mad about opposing fans buying up tickets, those tickets are available for Hawks fans to buy as well. If you are so mad about it, spend the money.

They make money when you resell your tickets....Wonder if they really care...
Only if you sell through Ticketmaster. I only sell through Ticketmaster because I believe that it absolves me of any responsibility for misbehavior by whoever buys my ticket. *

When I sell through other resale sites (StubHub, SeatGeek, Vivid...) the NFL doesn't profit, and I have no protection from whatever mischief the buyer gets into.

Pretty certain this is exactly how the NFL and Seahawks feel, and who they are targeting.

Edited to add, The NFL would also like to force everyone to sell through NFL Ticket Exchange/ Ticketmaster. If they could, then they actually wouldn't care who the tickets sold to. Legally, they can't put that kind of restriction on the ticket, once it is sold. They can, however, offer as many incentives as they like to the ones who choose to use Ticketmaster.

My family were season ticket holders for over 25 years starting back k in the early kingdome days, and we lived in eastern Washington. Only time we sold our tickets is when we couldnt make it to a game.

So as you can see, we did in fact spend the money. We were among the first 12's that helped create and build our traditions and reputation. How bout folks show some pride like we did for 25 years and honor those traditions. 👍

This is my understanding as well, and was a big part of why the NFL Ticket Exchange was created.

Transfer tickets to friends or family thru your own account, my rep told me that's totally different than what they are monitoring.
Sometimes, it's just fun to sit in other seats for a game or two.

Side note, it DOESN'T absolve you if someone gets in a fight at your seats. If they are your Season Tickets, you're responsible for what happens in your seats. This is exactly why I refuse to sell seats to someone I don't know, if I'm sitting in other seats for a game, or the extremely rare occasion I can't make a game.

If you read the fine print, selling via NFL Ticket Exchange absolves you from any disciplinary actions if the purchasers break in stadium rules. It's the only ticket vendor that has that qualification.

You may want to check with your rep on that. Someone gets in a fight in your season ticket seats, YOU can lose your seats. Period. I've seen it already happen in our section.
But I don't use exchange, so it doesn't impact me. I'm extremely careful about who sits in my seats.
I'm def. curious though about what you're saying about ticket exchange.
