I get that people are nervous and I'm sure every fan on both sides is a little nervous at this stage. its two great teams playing for a Super Bowl birth. This article points out why we are in a much better position to win. We are flat out the better team and we are playing at home. Does that guarantee a win? No but based on these numbers I like our chances.

Also check out this article on how the offense does in must score situations:

This just reaffirms what I've been thinking.

The Niners have a slightly better offense but our defense is playing much better as a whole than the Niners and it really isn't close. The Hawks allow significantly less points, less yards, and significantly more turnovers. The only thing the Niners are doing better on defense is rushing the passer but the Hawks still get a lot of pressure. Both offensive lines have allowed the same amount of sacks over the past 8 games

DVOA bears this out. San Fran has a slightly better offense by DVOA, but Seattle's Defense is simply in another universe compared with all other defenses in the league. By contrast San Fran's defense is actually not as good at least on paper as it's reputation suggests.

The defense is dominant both ways, but Seattle's offense is close to San Fran's Defense than the other way around and it's not particularly close.

San Fran's defense by DVOA is 14th vs the run. That's why they seem like such a great D by reputation, but if your own defense can keep it close, you can run on them.

The last 8 games between these two teams, the team that rushed for the most yardage is 8-0. I think we got this one.

In a thread yesterday, I posted that San Fran has played against slightly worse defenses.

On defense, we have played a little better offenses but statistically the Niners aren't close in any category except sacks.

Screw the Super Bowl. THIS game is #1 v. #2, and I fully expect whoever wins this game will be crowned champion.
