I would love to see what Pete and the coaching staff could do with this incredible athlete. Green was originally a WR which is where he played his freshman year. Then his sophomore year he converted to defense and played safety, mostly as a backup while trying to learn the position. Last year was his junior year and only his second year at safety where he won the starting job and started to really understand the position. He also took on the responsibility for checking the Clemson secondary into the proper coverages all season long in just his second year of playing defense.

He plays with a bit of nastiness and there is some ill intent in his hits. If John Schneider wants to "get back to being the bully" adding a guy like this would certainly help. His biggest downfall is in the fundamentals of his tackling which is something Pete and the staff emphasize and coach players up on really well. He shows good natural instincts and ability in coverage.

Green is everything Seattle covets in an athlete. He's got good size and length for the position, he's got tons of speed and plays fast as well (not just track speed, though he did set the combine record for fastest 40-time by a safety), he plays with a chip on his shoulder and he's passionate out on the field.

He was expected to be a mid to late round pick before the combine because there is just so little tape on him. He's now expected to possibly move up into the 3rd. This guy with the right coaching staff will be one of the steals of the 2016 draft. I just hope Seattle is the team that gets this steal.

He looks like he will exclusively play FS and we won't have to draft a FS as long as Earl is on the roster. Green will be a great player but not for the Hawks.

What makes you think that?

Pete seems to like to move DB's around and have guys be a little interchangeable (I think DeShawn Shead has played every DB position). Green seems like he could play either safety position no problem and I would venture to say he could even play CB.

Also you still need to have a backup for Earl, and keep young talent flowing in. To say we won't draft a FS as long as we have ET is probably not realistic.

Him being listed as FS on sites ahere distinctions are made between FS and SS, his 200 pound frame and his tape generally looks like he'd be better utilized as someone who has more freedom of choice in what he does every play as giving him a specific assignment might be underutilizing him.

We will definitely draft free safeties in Earl's time but it'll never be a priority and a third rounder would be way too steep of a price for a someone we're never going to give meaningful snaps.

Can't believe everything you see on the internet... The only reason some sites list him as FS is because that is the position he played last year. The previous year he played both safety positions in spot duty which is why his college page simply lists him as a safety. Kam Chancellor was also listed as a FS coming out of college...

I personally thought Green looked and played more like a SS with how well he comes up in run support, how he loves to hit, and how comfortable he looked playing up close the line at times. I believe Green would have played SS for Clemson if they hadn't already had a 2 year starter and team leader filling the position, but that is only my opinion, I can't claim to have any facts to back that up.He measured in at 6'2" 209 at the combine which is bigger than McCray who filled in at SS for us quite nicely last year. Plus Green's frame could easily handle another 15 Lbs if they wanted to add bulk.

Green's versatility to play either safety positions, willingness to play special teams, and ability in returning kicks would get him plenty of time on the field while also providing some great depth and they could possibly cross train him as a CB like Shead did and add value there. He's the type of guy that gives you options. He could fill in at FS right away if Earl ever gets hurt again, he could fill in at SS and maybe be your future there if this is Kam's last year with Seattle, he could possibly convert to CB or at least cross train to backup CB, he can return kicks if Lockett gets hurt or if you want to let him focus more on WR. He offers plenty of value for one of our late 3rd round picks. With that said, sure, I'd love if we could get him even later but I wouldn't be upset at all with Green anywhere in rounds 3-5.

I like TJ Green as an addition to our secondary as a versatile player with ball skills and big time speed. Check out the National Championship game where he runs OJ Howard down with a big head start. I don't see the Hawks using a 3 or 4 however, so unless he falls to the bottom of 5-6 I doubt it happens. He is a raw talent so you never know if he is a 3rd or a 5th among the clubs.

Great find. Shows good burst and speed and awareness of the ball.

Two things stand out above those for him. First he plays with great passion. You see it on the field. Second, he attacks the ball. He looks to create turnovers.

Tackling is suspect, but coaching can help that.

I am more intrigued with him at CB. He could back up Earl at FS while at the same time getting some reps at CB. While I don't want to use a mid-round pick on a player that is projected to be a 2nd string S and developmental CB, I could understand if that's the route we went.
