I really think MM is using this year to build the scheme he wants while giving all players and coaches a chance to prove why they belong. I for sure think Grubbs is gone. The guy is a passing genius but sucks at calling effective run plays. Even when the run is game seems to be coming together he still calls way too many pass plays. I think Grubbs knows he's gone and is using this to show case his passing scheme for other NFL teams. MM also probably wants Grubbs gone but also knows it wouldn't be good for a first year head coach to make that drastic of a change mid season. MM's main focus is probably this defense before he starts shaping up the offense. My hope is that we beat the Bears and Rams regardless of playoffs and have some momentum going into the off season. Players that I think will be gone are Woolen and some of the O-linemen. I know Geno isn't the most popular but I think he stays another year because, even with his mistakes, he does get the offense moving. I would hope MM fixes everything around the QB before we get one instead of just throwing in another qb with talent only to be wasted by this O-line.

This was pretty spot on.

I am really jacked about this offseason.
JS can get right to work filling holes in the OLine with FA's like J'Marcus Webb, Austin Blythe, Robert Gallery, Luke Joeckel, Evan Brown or Lake Tomlinson. All to save some coin to blow on an impact player like Adams or Harvin.
Then we can trade down & away from talent in the draft to stockpile some 4th, 5th and 6th round picks to make things extra fun and leave no stone unturned.

John has only drafted two QB's in his tenure and although I had high hopes for Alex McGough in the 7th round, I don't have much faith in his 50% hit rate on signal callers. Sometimes I wonder about such things as whatever happened to Matt Flynn?, how did the Jets get two 1st rounders, a 3rd & McDougald for Jamal Adams? And how did the Seahawks ever lose home field advantage?
Time for that revolutionary offseason filled with hope, it all seems great until you lose at home in those lime green uni's.
Here's to cleaning things up for a new era. Go Hawks.

LOL dude pulled a future HOF out of the 3rd round. One thing I trust Schnieder to do is pick Qb's.

Howell did not get a chance to show if he belongs or not. And that part of a game was not enough to get the info we needed.

Good point. I would also go to big lottery winners and ask them to give me some numbers for the next lottery. :rollseyes

what other QB has he actually picked or signed that was an underrated diamond in the rough? ONE is not a pattern.

JS has been living off that for far too long long and has little else to show that it wasn’t simply LUCK at this point. A decade of little to show in the draft.

He also traded way more than he should've for Charlie Whitehurst, Howell, traded for Lock and signed Flynn to a large contract. He seems to prefer going after value propositions above all else. We've really only drafted one QB while he's been here.

Agree that it was a small sample, but I will tell you that small sample was disgusting

Thanks for correcting me, silly me didn't think Mr. Unlimited was HOF material.
Yeah, unless he gets another bowl he’s on the outside looking in. The past few years and lack of post season success after the LOB left really hurt him.

Two completely different coaching staffs picked Geno over luck and Howell to be the starter. That's enough info for me to know that Geno is the QB on the roster that gives us the best chance to win week in and week out currently.

I think also included in this take on JS is the information that he was scouting and supposedly very interested in Mahomes and Allen which allegedly hurt Wilson's feelings. So it's seen as an eye for QBs that JS knew what he was talking about with Wilson, Mahomes, and Allen.

The people complaining about JS not taking a QB over his tenure here, who would you have liked to see them have taken over the years realistically? I'm just curious to hear everyone's answers. Try to shy away from the hindsight aspect of it all, who did you want at the time in the moment?
