Everyone has seen the stories about how teams are studing our defense and how we play the read option as well as just the general concept.

Copying is the biggest form of flattery and we know thats what the NFL does.

Moving to the how may be easy for many DC's but what we did was define a skill for a position and then find the player that matched that skill set, Earl small and fast, Browner tall and physical, Sherman tall and good in coverage, Kam big and brutal with speed, Red moved to a run stuffing end, taller MLB with speed. All of them young, with a chip on their shoulder for any number of reasons.

There is a formula to all this, and if anyone hopes to try to emmulate this teams defense they are going to need a couple seasons minimum to even try to make it work to get the required personnel.. Even then they will have to identify that unusual skill set blended with a physical body type that fits the mold.

I'm not to worried really about seeing any defenses look a lot like ours, much like not many looked like the Ravens for many years due to the unique players and skill sets they had.

Teams may try to copy it, but it will be harder for them because Pete KNOWS what he wants in a player to fit his system.

It's a lot harder to look over your shoulder and try to exactly copy a work of art than it is to be the original artist painting it yourself.

Duplication is definately flattering to the Hawks. That said, even if the Seahawks went up against a defense running the same scheme, who has more experience running an offense against it than Russell Wilson?

Don't forget that the formula also involves personnel and it takes the right type of players to pull it off well.

What teams are doing this? All I know of is the Jags.

Cowboys were tasked to study our defensive tape. Monte Kiffen is their DC now.

Given the number of DEs now here expect some creative 'Nascar' type rush formation where 4 pass rushers agree to attempt to meet at the QB bringing the pain.

There were a few other articals as well referring to how we did things against the read option, you didn't recognise a lot of our schemes in the Super Bowl that Baltimore was setting up?

They may copy the actual X and Os but they can't copy the talent evulation skill that PC and JS have.

6'4 CBs and blazing fast FS with the instinct of Earl Thomas don't grow on trees.

It would need to be more than just the scheme. To go along with scheme you'd need the right coaching to bring the best out of your players. You'd need the right players, I have a hard time seeing a Kelly Jennings close doing what browner does. And you'd need a front office that can dig gems out of the bottom rounds of the draft.

Good luck finding all those things, copycats.
