Love Sherman still. A bit of a loudmouth, but that seems to motivate him, so whatever. Amazing player, intelligent guy; he'll always be ok in my book.

Don't have strong feelings either way on Earl. He was great, left in a very douchy way. Seemed unnecessary.

They're both good dudes, guess I just don't feel the need to dwell on former players while they are still playing on other teams.

At this point, I have more warm feeling towards Sherm, not so much towards Earl. At their prime, they were difference makers for sure. Towards the end, they were as destructive in the locker as they were productive on field.

They are both better at their positions than what we have. We just don't have the money.

Eart and Sherm are like my kids, they may say and do stupid things that piss me off, but I will always love them.

These are two of the most important players in Seahawk history, who both helped us win a SB helping releasing decades of frustration and bringing joy to an entire region........to think of them otherwise is weird to me.

Something you can't refute...when those guys were with the Hawks ...the defense along with many other guys had an identity and an attitude . The defense now doesn't have that . They got the talent ; but not the attitude . IMO

I love ‘em. I wish they were both still here so we had some mouths on this bland team. Bring back Bennett while we’re at it.

I wish them the best, somewhere else.

They burned their bridges here, putting themselves above the team, so they belong elsewhere.

There's no doubt who the locker room leader is now...

They are now the enemy. I still think they are the greatest Seahawks ever. I mean there will be a statue and it will be the most glorious thing in Seattle. A life size bronze statue that anyone can go and be a part of the greatest sports moment of all time.

I have to disagree. Earl and Sherm are far more talented than Hill, McDougald, Thompson, Flowers, and Griffin. I agree the potential is there but no way are those guys as talented as Sherm or Earl were at this stage in their careers.

Still got love for them, just can't root for them.
They did nothing to effect my, or anyone else' here's personal lives. They both brought me my favorite Hawks viewing experiences.
Football is a violent and emotional sport and those are 2 emotional guys.
Will never understand why some folks think players, who are human, grown ass men, need to put on a smile, flip a switch and act the way the fans want them to like perfect gentleman. This is not golf :les:
OMG he gave them the middle finger. Poor Pete
It's a man ass sport and feelings will get hurt :rumble:
We discarded them. They were upset they couldn't stick around. Take the compliment.
We'll always have a spot in their hearts. They're currently on a different journey.
If you have ill feelings towards them, then you've got entirely too much invested in your fandom :stirthepot:
Can't let the ex-girlfriend who you broke up with keep you in your feelings. Unless you're not over her :141847_bnono:

In my view Sherman was responsible for his actions and his departure. You can't do all of the immature things that he did - going after the coaching staff, throwing temper tantrums on the sidelines, threatening reporters, etc - and then be surprised when the team decides to release you rather than paying your huge salary.

I feel similarly about Earl. The FO has been extremely clear about not redoing contracts until the final year, but because we set a bad precedent once with Lynch then Kam and Earl felt they deserved the same treatment. However, they went about it in completely opposite ways and that's why Kam got another extension and Earl did not. Attitudes make a huge difference for overall team chemistry and Earl was a problem in the small amount of time he was around those final two seasons. My issue isn't with him flipping off Pete directly but what that said about his overall attitude.

Both players were great football players while they played for us. I don't think either finished as great Seahawks and neither should be considered for the ring of honor.

It's an interesting subject w/out a doubt. But is has been rehashed for the last couple years. It's time to move on from these guys. They can be celebrated AFTER they retire. Dwelling on them and/or making excuses for their actions seems strange, but oh well. There is no right or wrong answer, just a lot of opinions.
I like both of them, just don't like how they acted. But it doesn't impact my life one bit, I just won't pull for them until they are retired. I will concentrate on the CURRENT players. Well, not pulling for Sherm since he plays for my least favorite team in any sport

With my first wife, the early years were great. I attribute much of who I am today to what I learned while married to her. Then she cheated on me and we are divorced. I wish her the best but it can be more than a little awkward when I see her around town.

Signed,

PS. This is an analogy. I have never been divorced and I am not a Butt Hurt Woman Scorned.

Miss them terribly, almost every day, especially Earl. Or maybe Sherm. I dunno. So crazy to me that we thought we had this dynasty thing and were going to live forever, and NONE of the LOB, Doug, Marshawn etc played here past age 29.

I always appreciated Chancellor the most of all the LOB. He was the man.

Earl was a great safety but I actually liked Sherman better as a player since Sherm was just so damn smart on the field. I've always appreciated smart players over the physically gifted. But the problem with smart people is they don't suffer fools lightly and Sherm couldn't get over some foolish things from the coaching staff and let it eat at him too much and boil over.

I miss that era a lot but I know that the NFL doesn't want anymore Boom in the secondaries so it's really a lost era that can never return. The days of the big hitting safety are over.
