This offseason, TE needs to be a priority.

Honestly I did not consider TE as a high priority, but must admit I am excited at the prospect of Arroyo. He just might turn out to be our best and most versatile TE ever!
It's a priority because we don't have that RELIABLE deep threat (I do not call MVS reliable with stone hands).

Fant is likely on his last season here. Doubt we trade him this season regardless how well Arroyo and Barner look but TE was definitely a need. Maybe not a priority but definitely a need. I think we may be set for a very long time though.

Fant has a ton of talent. I think it's easy to forget how good he can be. Now, if they can find a trade partner willing to take on that contract? Do it.

If Fant has a "ton" of talent, it's not showing up on the field all that much.

Maybe Kubiak unlocks it?

He does have a ton of talent. Just because Geno ignored him on the field, doesn't mean he isn't talented. This team hasn't used the tight end correctly for several years. It's maddening. My point is he's not just some scrub.

Well then it's a good thing we have Kubiak now and not Grubb as OC.

(and we have Darnold, too)

We've gone through a couple of OCs now that don't seem to know what TEs are for. 🤷‍♂️
Damn.

Well let's hope this time we do have one (Kubiak) that does.

Fant has also been pretty bad at both run blocking and pass protection.

When you factor in everything, he's probably above average, at best, but we're paying him $10.5 million a year, which is 11th among TEs. I'd rather have Will Dissly at $4.5 million a year or Colby Parkinson at $7.5 million. They're not superstars either, but at least they're not paid like one.

Fant hasn't done all that well here IMO. Unrealized potential. If a good trade option presented itself for him, I'd seriously consider it.

He was okay, he did well with opportunities given to him -- but I'm still lukewarm on him. I see us as having a bunch of depth pieces. I want a TE that is a legitimate receiving threat, I'm not sure if I'd consider Barner that.
I think they drafted one from Miami
