The ref who made the call on the field, was also under the hood. I thought that whatever was called on the field, either saftey or touch, would stand. It could have gone either way, but not enough evidence to overturn it.

Exactly. I think if it was called a TD on the field it would have stood as well.

He could have played it the same way you down a punt inside the 5. Sliding the way he did was pretty dumb.

When downing a punt, the other team isn't trying to also go after the ball unlike the blocked FG. Also, when that close to the end zone, a lot of people are thinking scoop and score, but in this case all you needed to do was scoop or jump on it, and jumping on it is obviously the safer decision especially considering you don't know who's behind you. Sliding imo was more because of his momentum after jumping on the ball, it was a dash to the ball of course.

If they called it a TD on the field it probably would've stayed a TD.

Just one of those things....

You must not have seen the Husky game yesterday heh. overturned call without enough evidence to overturn. (that is college though so not the same)

Very very very close play, but probably should have been a TD.

Yup, had the play been called a TD, it wouldn't have been overturned either. It was that close.

15-1 is still possible :D

I thought it was a TD in real time, and guess what, IT WAS! Hawks got boned twice on that play, once by the zebra on the field and once by the replay official. If Rog Goodell had any credibility both would be in the unemployment line tomorrow..... But Rog got his "desired results" and that's all that matters to that POS!

Well, the ball did move from one hand to the other, along his body, as he slid out of bounds…

That alone is enough to at least “question” if he had control in the field of play…

That said it was a very close call and you’re entitled to your opinion, I just disagree… ;)

Agreed Fidel. As we all saw there were numerous blatant crappy calls in this game that swung momentum to the colts, but they did get the safety call correct and to think otherwise is just utter homerism.

The ball didn't move from one hand to the other, he had it in complete control with his left hand the whole time. I have this thing recorded on DVR in HD. I don't know wtf you're seeing. The ball can move without it being uncontrolled. If I hold a basketball in the palm of my right hand I can move it all over the place and still have complete control.

Either way, the point of my post wasn't the call being right or wrong but the fact that I knew as soon as it happened it was a massive momentum swing.

dumb a$$ should of just picked it up

I agree, why dive on the ball at full speed at least knock it back into the field of play. At the very least it's 2 points. He should have either slowed down and picked it up or he should have knocked it back toward his teammates.

To not get 7 points out of that was a big deal. I knew it from the moment I saw it that we'd probably regret not getting those 5 points.
