So, it's working great when we do it. So, we never do it. Makes total sense.

Great that he's 'owning' it. Would like to see it actually fixed. Haven't seen Grubb in a presser yet - but the quotes seem very PC/Word Saladey.

"The only team since 1932 to finish last in the NFL in carries per game while averaging 5.0-plus yards per carry in a season was the 2018 Packers (went 6-9-1 and fired Mike McCarthy in December)."

I’m wondering, even after being cleared to play, if K9’s obliques are actually gtg.

I know we could’ve thrown Zach out there and let him do his thing but..,

Running less with K9 out and in a shootout with Detroit was fine. The Giants game was the only really egregious one so far IMO.

If our defense had been playing well, then i wouldn't have minded throwing the ball as much as we did. But when your defense is getting had, you need to take the air out of the ball, run time off the clock, and limit the number of possessions your opponent has. Not only that, but Geno was under pressure a lot last Sunday, so even if we're not successful, we needed to run in order to give the defense something else to think about.

I could understand it if we were playing from behind in a 3-score game. But the game was close all the way, so there was no need to sling the ball around like we did. We have one of the best running backs in the game, so why not use him?

Hopefully, that quote by Grubbs is an indication that he recognizes his mistakes.

Hopefully the quotes lead to real change. Not to sound all doom and gloom, but the season is in danger of spiralling out of control. I wasn't and am not expecting a SB run, but we need to turn things around. I was expecting to see improvement as the season unfolds. So far, not seeing a lot yet.

He's obviously no dummy, but I'm holding off on any appraisal of his intelligence until I see a little more of him. Same with predictions of success.

I got the sense that Grubbs had insolated himself from what was going on in the rest of the game as he sat in the press box, like he was calling plays in a vacuum without taking into account the score, the way the defense had been playing, the frustrations the offensive line was having in protecting Geno, and so on.

I understand the rationale for having the offensive play caller in the press box, but could it be that he's become somewhat detached from the team, desensitized from the emotions his players are feeling, and that it's affecting his play calling?

When the Walrus was our coach, I felt that the way he isolated himself behind that Denny's menu led to his losing touch of everything else that was going on around him, ignored the defense and special teams, didn't manage the game properly, particularly the game clock.

I'm just throwing some stuff out there to think about. I'm not claiming it to be factual.

none of that is true or accurate. Watch some husky games. If a team was vulnerable to the run, they got a steady diet. Geno looks like a new man because of this new system that we haven't even seen half of it. Our woes are strictly from a really bad O-line that is going to take some time to fix.

I would definitely like to see more balance but I do think play calls are somewhat influenced by situation.
They ran 21 2nd down plays, averaging 8 yards to go.
On third down they ran 12 plays averaging 7 yards to go.
Combined with whatever number of plays that Geno called an audible out of a run because of the look he read and I can see how the carries were limited.

3-11 on 3rd down also played a large part in not being able to feed the run the game. Only 58 plays with a majority of them run while trailing in the game leads to more passing.

It drives me crazy when people ask why we aren't running more. The O-line is trash. There is nowhere to run when Dexter Lawrence is blowing everything up.

I do agree that we need more screen passes.

We can't run block, we can barely pass block. Best bet is to call a bunch of quick passes. Opposition knows this and jumps on the quick routes.

The interior of the O line needs to be prioritized.

Drafting Haynes was a good start.
