No such thing as a meaningless game. Not to me. I get WHY some are saying it is, since we can still make playoffs IF the Rams lose their last 2 and we beat them on week 18.
Just, to ME, I don't like that mentality, and I highly doubt any of the players think this game is meaningless.
Also, F the Bears and most of their fans.

It's certainly not meaningless to me. I only get so many chances each year to watch my Hawks play. The Bears game is 1/17th of those regular season opportunities.
Go Hawks!
That’s a different kind of meaningless. All fans will watch this game wether it means anything or not. Cuz that’s what we do.
So yeah, I’m with ya on this.

Again, any time the Hawks play, it means something. No matter what the record. All in how you look at it I guess. Losing to a crap team that has lost several games in a row, on national TV? It means plenty.

Where do we draw the line on injured players then? We hear about guys playing through injuries they otherwise wouldn't when the stakes are high. If we're treating it like we absolutely need it, then I guess you're putting those guys out there, even if it hurts their chances of being healthy next week too. Not doing so would deviate from that winning mentality that is so critical and all the confidence we would gain from beating the reeling Bears by like seven points.

If someone is borderline, I can see them holding them out until the Clams game. Doesn't mean that they're not taking the game seriously and/or trying to win it.
And let's be real, the Cards suck, they're not beating the Clams. I hope they do, but I highly doubt it. The difference between playoffs and missing out is going to come down to that Giants loss. Felt like it at the time, and it certainly does now.

I think we are talking about the playoffs

What turn you on is meaningless to the rest of us

If we make the playoffs, this game could affect seeding, but at the moment, we don't control our own destiny for any particular seed. It comes down to what Atlanta and Tampa do.

Atlanta schedule: @ WAS, vs CAR
Tampa schedule: vs CAR, vs NO

Keep in mind, these scenarios assume Cards over Rams, and Hawks over Rams, so that doesn't need to be pointed out. And no, I'm not necessarily claiming I think those things happen, this is a hypothetical.

Atlanta and Tampa both win out:
Seattle gets 3 seed with win @ CHI, 4 seed with loss

Tampa wins out, Atlanta drops at least one:
Seattle gets 4 seed regardless of tonight

Atlanta and Tampa both go 1-1:
Seattle gets 3 seed regardless of tonight.

Tampa goes 1-1, Atlanta goes 0-2:
Seattle gets 3 seed with win @ CHI, 4 seed with loss

Tampa and Atlanta both go 0-2:
Seattle gets 3 seed regardless of tonight

Typically higher seed is better, and maybe things would shake out for that to be true again, but right now, the 3 seed is most likely hosting the Packers. Not sure I want anything more to do with them right now. Not suggesting we should throw the game, just pointing out a potential silver lining to a loss.

Yes, I am one of those "fans" who doesn't fan correctly. During the season, once the Seahawks have shown their utter inability to win when it matters most, and the playoffs are a far-fetched (though still mathematically attainable) fantasy, I'm on to next year. A higher draft pick doesn't necessarily mean getting a HOF player, but it certainly makes draft night more exciting and interesting, and hopefully, the future brighter.

At some point, to me, getting more wins in an otherwise lost season just hurts the future. But I get why others fan the way they do.

To each their own. Cheers.

The NY Times simulator currently gives the Packers a 51% chance of being the 6 seed, but I think in reality, it's considerably higher. The Packers have just one path to the 5 seed: they win their last two, while the Vikings lose their last two. On the surface, there would appear to be a good chance of that happening because the Packers and Vikings play each other this weekend, and then next week the Packers host the Bears while the Vikings play at the Lions. However, if the Vikings lose to the Pack, the Lions clinch both the division and the #1 overall seed if they beat the Niners on Monday Night. Anyone think the Niners actually win that game? With the Lions being a MASH unit currently, there's a good chance they're resting a lot of players against the Vikings. At the very least, their motivation to win that game plummets.

Afc is set. The victim out of the nfc is wide open.
Not one team is totally dominant, that's my point. Every team has flaws and can be knocked off. KC is the team to beat until someone proves they can. But they don't look nearly as dominant as they have. With or without the Hawks, def. looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

There are no meaningless games on our schedule. Ever.
If there is to be any divine intervention involved I am praying it blesses the Cards with a big win this week and us with a big win next week, after taking care of the Bears this week.
