Or perhaps they think Purdy is the real deal and they can get value for Lance for this upcoming draft? Maybe a second rounder? Who knows
Why stop at a second-rounder? The Seahawks got two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and three NFL players for Russell Wilson. And unlike Wilson, Lance has never had a season as a bottom-five starting QB in the NFL. Maybe the 49ers could get three or four first-rounders for Lance! Aim for the stars, 49ers fans!
(OK, technically, Lance hasn't been a bottom-five NFL starting QB because he hasn't played enough in a season to have been considered a starting QB, but we're clearly just screwin' around if we're talking about a second-round pick for Lance at this point)
(And no, Wilson had not yet had a season as a bottom-five NFL QB before being traded, but again, we're obviously just playin' around once it's been suggested that the Diggers could get a second-rounder for Lance)
A little (but OK, not much) more seriously, a second-round pick in what draft? 2030?
Lance has less than a single full NFL season's worth of pass attempts since high school, most of them against weak-ass competition in college (68.3% of those post-high-school attempts coming in a single season at North Dakota State) and he's just a year away from some team having to decide about his fifth-year option. What NFL front office is going to give up a high draft pick to put itself in that situation?
