Surprise versatility

We have a number of players who have spent time at different positions on the field during high school and college careers, and maybe even in the NFL. For instance, Bradford has made the jump from tailback to aspiring LB, Sweezy on the OL originating on the DL, MRob from a running QB to FB. Seahawk versatility is fantastic, and Pete loves to scheme players for success.

But, if any player on the hawks could switch positions for one play based on past experience, and make some kind of impact, what would you love to see? Sweezy getting a sack on D? MRob throwing a TD pass? Bradford coming in as an RB and pulling off a long run? What might be the most extreme example of this principle, again, within past/reasonable experience? (therefore, Big Red running a crossing route or returning kickoffs is kind of out of the question, though the thought makes me smile)

I think Sherman could easily do well as a receiver again.

If memory serves, he regularly punished DB's in high school.

He has enough receptions on D to be called WR on some teams. I'd love to see him come in a run a route or two! :th2thumbs:

I love this specific part of the team. By default it builds chemistry.

Its a trait I always admired with Hoody in New England.

Golden Tate at RB doing the read option would be kinda neat. Tate was a HS RB.

He's always been a corner so far as I'm aware, but I'd love to see Browner play LB in a preseason game.

Not that you'd ever want him there, but I bet RW would make a pretty good slot WR. Big hands, quick, super smart, attention to detail guy, can relate to QBs scrambling to buy time, and he has talent for taking hits with little to no damage. Some pretty good WRs were formerly QBs (Anquan Boldin) and vice versa (Ryan Tannehill). If Jake Locker ever gets released I'd love to see the Seahawks give him a tryout as a big WR project. Ditto to Tannehill, who was actually his team's best WR for two seasons before switching back to QB.

If Ware can't make an NFL roster, I'd love to see Seattle bring him back as Bradford 2.0. I don't know if Ware ever played LB, but most RBs played LB in high school, there is a natural affinity between those positions. Ware has the size and killer instinct / aggressiveness plus he hits like a truck. Ware had a jaw dropping stop on special teams vs. San Diego that showed he has some freakish ability as a tackler.

Dangeruss is too short to play WR.

I could see Big Red playing goal line TE for the blocking and occasionlly slipping out for a short TD pass.

Tune in tomorrow night for Phil Bates at Fullback
"We love that he's really fast, and he's a terrific catcher," Carroll said of Bates. "If he could work out, then we might be able to develop a player."

There's a precedent for this kind of move, a name that football fans in Seattle are familiar with. Marcel Reese played receiver at Washington only to become a starting fullback with the Raiders. In fact, he had a huge play in Oakland's victory over Carroll's Seahawks in 2010.

"If you remember, he beat us running a slant route being shifted out of the backfield," Carroll said of Reese. "So we have that thought in the back of our mind, too."

There appears to be more common cross-over between offense and defense at the LB/RB and CB/WR spots. I wonder who will be our own William Perry, though?

I'm glad you had the link in there, because otherwise I would have thought you were joking.

I love our coaching staff.

I would love to see Mebane pounding the ball into the endzone from the 2 yard line..
