Carolina had a plan in place to stay underneath him in our cover 3. They executed and we didn't mix up coverages well. When you know you're going to see cover 3, knowing the corner has deep responsibility and isn't one of the true elite corners in the game, it Is pretty elementary to complete outs and comebacks. We gave it to them and they took it. We see Sherman break on some of those, but we also see him get called out by his coaches for not playing deep enough. For the most part, Simon executed exactly how he was supposed to. He did get sent into a circle in man once, but that was a pretty gnarly route. Wake me up when he gives up something over the top.

One bad game? Better get rid of him just like Willson!!

He'll get better. He's basically a rookie and went up against a monster and highly talented reciever in Benjamin.

We have the best coaching staff in the league. He'll get better.

Let's not forget what Pete said after the game about Simon having to play with "absolutely no help" because we committed big time to stopping the run. The kid is still essentially a rookie.
After hearing what Pete said about him getting no help, it really altered what kind of game I thought Simon had. He had a very good game and I'm guessing played exactly how he was supposed to play. Never got beat deep and kept everything in front of him. I mean he was matched up on a physically huge freak of a WR that gave Sherman huge fits earlier this year and never once let Benjamin beat him deep.

And also to echo some others, yes Simon was pulled down just enough by Benjamin on that 2ns TD, but was still in position to force a perfect pass and catch. He's going to be very special and playing that many snaps in a divisional round playoff game against such good WR competition will only make he and the defense that much better.

I wouldn't say he played great. Although not sure how much can be asked for from a rookie compared to a stud cover corner in BMax. Was unfortunate that he was out. I don't expect that next week!

No one mentioned getting rid of him. Chill.

You'd figure with the teachings of the LOB he wouldn't always be a step behind (as someone else mentioned) as he was all night long.

Rookie and no help does buy him a bit of slack in my book. But for the majority of him being behind (beat) on most of the action went his way thats not acceptable.

Simon just came back from a dislocated shoulder, he had a tough game and Newton was just picking on him.

Watch him bounce back with a good game next Sunday.
