First let me get the bad stuff out of the way.

He had 3 throws that were Turnover-worthy in this game but only ONE of them should be tossed at Darnold's feet as a bad decision/pass.

That one would be the pass to K9 on the flat where his defender was all over him and actually stepped in front and should've picked the ball off. Not sure if K9 prevented that by playing defense there or not but very fortunate. (That was a big YIKES for me at that moment)

Now that said, the two other passes that are being highlighted for some reason are the AJ Barner TD pass attempt and the Deep Pass that was interrupted by Jeffrey Simmons.

-- The pass to Barner in the endzone that the announcers claimed it was a "dangerous throw" during the broadcast?

I'm sorry but from what I saw in the replay, Barner should've caught that as it hit his hands and chest. Now maybe Sam could've thrown the ball a second sooner there but it still is a catchable ball that I feel Barner could've grabbed for the TD. We've seen plenty of these throws in tight windows by Sam before where the catch is completed by the receiver in the endzone. Only reason some people are losing their s--t over this is because the ball popped up in the air (Fortunately it landed harmlessly on the ground).

IMO, this was not on Darnold. AJ needs to catch the ball here.

- The throw at 14:54 (4th Qtr) that was almost picked where Jeffrey Simmons hits Darnold? Yeah as he was throwing the ball, Jeffrey hit Darnold which jostled and changed the Pass's trajectory (making it a wobbly duck). I don't fault Darnold for this one either. Sometimes you have to give credit to the opposing Defender for making a play (they get Paid, too, no matter what the team's record is). It's just a good thing that safety/corner(?) did his best impression of Riq Woolen on his attempt to intercept the ball there. 😅

Other stuff that is more annoying than bad involving Darnold is that Rashid Shaheed had only TWO targets today. WTF? I don't know if this was by design (Kubiak) or if Darnold wanted to keep feeding The Beast known as JSN (can't blame him) but this game was the perfect opportunity to get Sheed more in-synch with the offense and Darnold, and that is unacceptable. 😠

Okay the not-so-great stuff is done.

Now for the good stuff :

JSN is a GOD. 🤯

What passes can't he catch? Holy sh*t! And now he's broken a season record in just 11 games (i think). I shudder to think where this team would be if JSN was never drafted to the Seahawks back in the day.

Whatever throw Sam made toward him, it felt like JSN vacuumed the ball up as if his hands were magnets for the football.

Sam had a couple of big time throws for TDs (both to JSN) that have become typical old-hat stuff as well.

Every throw he made to JSN were basically long-distance hand-offs.

Overall, though, I was not blown away by Sam yesterday but I was encouraged by several things :

1.) His increased willingness to check the ball down. This is CRITICAL for him to cut down on the turnover-worthy plays going forward. We have the backs and the Tight-Ends who can get plenty of YAC in open-space so he doesn't have to go Bombs-Away every time.

2.) He actually took a sack. Yes, it was on a 4th-and-1 and it was a turnover-on-downs but it's far better than a fumble or a pick, imo.

3.) He also threw the ball away on several occasions when there was nothing there.

4.) No fumbles.

I find myself overall Happy and content with his performance as I feel this was a very solid bounce-back from last week's debacle.

Now let's get ready to watch the Defense absolutely wreck JJ McBusto next week. :devilish:
