I'm going to be honest; as a fan of a team that has often been ignored up here in the PNW, I am REALLY happy to have a guy that gets talked about in the media. I don't even watch ESPN, but I like that people are starting to actually care about our players. Good. That means more prime-time games for us.

Really feeling some kind of way about champ remarks towards @RSherman_25 !!!

Earl Thomas ‏@Earl_Thomas 12h
Lost respect for champ bailey talking down on @RSherman_25 #lowblow talk to much #best corner in the league!!!!

What did Champ say?

Apparently about Sherman comments on White, Champ said "That dude talks too much". Anyone have more info?

I watched the show and I thought Champ insulted Julio Jones, if anyone. maybe I missed something.

I believe Champ directed the "talks too much" comment at Sherman. It was just poorly edited together by the NFL network. I don't think Jones or White are known as talkers, so the comment wouldn't make sense if directed at them.

Anyway, personally, I'm loving this stuff between Sherm and Roddy. I wouldn't be surprised if both these guys are just playing it up for the pub either. It's fun. Don't see the harm.

My two cents...

Sherm does talk too much (which is what Champ said).
Sherm isn't in Roddy's head.
Roddy isn't in Sherm's head.
Champ inadvertently put down Julio while trying to defend Roddy.
NFL including Sherm's comments in the final cut for Roddy is ambulance chasing for ratings / media coverage.

In this case, Sherm comes off as petty/immature from my perspective. Then again, he may have thought they simply wouldn't include his opinion since he wasn't supporting Roddy in the top 100.

Sherm got lucky early on when Roddy baited him into thinking that he wasn't running a route then just took off. Late throw from Ryan allowed Sherm to close the gap. Nice recovery but he was completely fooled... show some respect for a good player when he's being honored by his peers. Talk all the trash you want on the field but come on.

The play he got beat on where Roddy scored the touchdown Sherman was in damn near perfect position and likely would have made the play but his foot got tangled with Roddy's. They showed the play a ton on the NFL network during this and it was pretty clear to me. It was really unfortunate.

You're damn right. Sherm knows we played against the Falcons this year at least in the regular season. There is also a good chance we play them the post season as well. A good mental player gets in someones head before the game even starts. Then it's all about that first pass to Roddy and how that plays out. If Sherman dominates him that first pass... Game Over.
Groan... 'Game Over'? after that first pass? Not quite.
Can't wait to reference negative nancy's post after the game.

Also, what many people think is that Sherman was just being obnoxious clapping towards White after getting beat for the TD. He was actually acknowledging a good play, just like the 2nd game against SF, Sherm was all over Crabtree in perfect position but there was an absolute perfect throw and catch for a good gain. Sherm clapped to Crabtree just acknowledging a good play.

What's is interesting to me is Champ saying Sherman talks too much. It seems that WRs like Chad Johnson or TO can talk all they want and there isn't a lot of backlash from players (media and fans is another thing). Steve Smith is captured talking junk about if you see his face it means he scored. No backlash.

The problem Sherman has is that he is credited with trash talking those icons of the game that the media didn't feel he had a right to. When it was leaked that he failed a PED test, he pretty much is cast in stone as the bad guy. Beating the suspension (which should have never been leaked, what is up with that NFL?) only raised the temperature.

He has to be careful that he doesn't marginalize himself and limit his FA options. He could scare off some teams if they don't do a deep enough look into what he is about. Seahawks fans would love it if he has a smaller market but I am not so sure he and his folks want that to be the result of his outspoken nature.

Absolutely no doubt. Sherman is getting exactly the reaction he wants from White, and come week 10 if there's a few more pass breakups and "you crazy to throw my way my brotha" finger wagging/insane implying then White will lose it.
White caught 1 pass when the ball was thrown Sherman's way... and that was a blown coverage by Kam.
The article a few weeks ago implied that Sherman "failed" just once in 11 coverage snaps against Whute.

I'm sure Sherman isn't even THINKING of White when he goes to sleep, let alone losing any

That's a really interesting article. I liked that the author responded to a comment asking about the theory that ET "makes" or allows Sherman to be as good as he is to which the author said:

I wouldn’t consider Thomas at all in evaluating Sherman. Thomas’ value is that they can play single-high safety, but it doesn’t affect Sherman’s ability to play unbelievably aggressive and effective man coverage.

I hope not, Sherm didn't make that play. Ryan was late with the throw after Sherman got burned. Bad example.

Sherman beat QBs all year with deceptive closing speed. Redzone INTs vs. Kaep and Bradford look almost identical to that play.

Sherman's done that all year. Let the receiver get him up high, leaving him open for a split second and then undercutting the route when it's thrown.

It's actually a brilliant move on his part. The receiver thinks he's gotten the better of him and BOOM Sherm's got a stop or an interception.

Oh, I didn't forget. presnapreads broke it down and Sherm clearly dominated, even more than his usual dominant 80% cover rate on the season. If you talk a lot, and the other side gets lucky, it makes it more embarrassing to some sensitive folks and they can't separate that feeling from the facts of the game.

You guys can say whatever you like, he was burned. No way he's trying to let Roddy get that big of a jump on him inside the red zone. Of course Sherm baits QBs but not in this case.

Disagree, he did the same thing to Kaep and Mossman in the red zone at the clink.

You can literally see him gliding slowly and then accelerate just as Ryan's eyes target White. That's a textbook Sherm play. Another step might have gotten him the INT, but Ryan can throw a bullet, and it's still a heck of a play on the ball. I really don't see how someone could look at that play as anything but a damn fine piece of defense. We're all watching the same video.
