Maybe my expectations for ivanshitz are too high. I just feel he has it in him to be more consistent given his caps etc

Still think Evans is below.average to average at cb. As I said he is better than traore and hurtado but i dont think the sounders have had many really good cbs. Marshall for a spell maybe, parke was decwent at mls level and zach scott has had some solid performances in the past I guess.

Ivanschitz has been way better in the 4231 than he ever was in the 433. He plays more defensive minded and yields space to Dempsey, Lodeiro and Jones overlapping. His spacial awareness has been key in allowing Jones to overlap. We have multiple goals to thank for Ivanschitz tactical sense for the game.

Jones has been hit or miss all year. He'll play everyone off the field, or he'll get torched. Sometimes both in the same game. I think he'll get there one day.

Evans has done his part, i feel. Is he the best, no. But for every mistakes he makes, he makes 5 or 6 REALLY solid plays....and he is way better playing out of the back than a lot of CB's in this league. Proud to have him on our squad.

Lodeiro has made this team fun again, and now we are seeing the benefits from all over the field. Jones, Roldan, Alonso, Dempsey and Morris are all seeing improved performances because of Nico being on the pitch.

Lagerway got us one hell of a player.

Dull game so far. Heat having an impact and both teams saving themselves for the weekend.

Valdez hasnt impressed, if morris comes on I think his speed will open the game up.

This is entirely on Schmetzer. They are asking Valdez to be something he's not. I have no idea why he didn't start Herc or someone up top with Valdez...

Another week another referee who costs us points. You can't make this stuff up..

Draw was fair but disappointing. If Morris could finish we'd have won. Id rather have fielded the stronger team against the 'weaker' houston team today than Sunday where points will be harder to get.

Our depth isnt as good as I thought. Valdez is a waste of space now and remick didnt do much going forward compared to jones. Fernandez was meh. Without dempsey teams doubled up on lodeiro and he still scored.

Seems like the Sounders are set to make about $600k on the sale of Yedlin from Spurs to Newcastle.

http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/69/trans ... D=PP_91106

Yedlin, 23, is leaving Tottenham two years after joining Spurs on a $4 million transfer from the Seattle Sounders. Yedlin's move to Newcastle should net the Sounders a fee of around $600,000 as part of a sell-on clause included in Yedlin's original move to Tottenham.

Do the sounders receive that though or the league? Never sure how the salary cap works when sellings players.

Also why is soccer so far behind other sports with goalline technology etc :(

It took baseball forever as well to get with the times and implement technology...................soccer is the same, even worse when it comes to critics wanting to protect the purity of the sport.

Honestly I turned the match off and went outside to wash my car after the first half, this game had "let's just try and get a draw and focus on Portland this weekend" written all over it.

The Sounders do get a sell on fee for Yedlin. I don't think it can be used as allocation money though.

Goal line technology is incredibly expensive because of patents. Most leagues don't wanna pay the money for something that may be used 4 or 5 times a year.

I'm starting to wonder if Brian Schmetzer is the wrong man for the job. I realize that's probably not a popular opinion right now, given he's unbeaten as head coach. Last night was his first real test and I came away unimpressed. I don't understand why we started Valdez if he wasn't fit to go 90. On top of that we started two CMs at CAM who struggled to stay forward, which left Valdez on an island for most of the first half. Schmetz asked Valdez to fill the Jordan Morris role, anyone with eyes knows that Valdez isn't capable of filling that role.

If you're gonna play Valdez he needs someone who can play up top with him, otherwise don't even put him out there. Let Anderson have a go up top, he's at least capable of being dangerous on an island.

He's got a lot of issues... and It feels like they are being masked by having a lot of talent at his disposal. His toughest decisions since taking over is whether to start Ivanschitz or Valdez.

I'm fine with him so far. We've had almost as many points in a month as we did under Sigi this year.

Big test was beating Portland and next up is Portland on Sunday. The Sounders were woeful under Sigi this year and so far we are unbeaten since Sigi left. I doubt Sigi would have won last nights game. If we make it into the play offs thats a mjaor turn around.

If anything, last night showed our squad depth isn't the best and Valdez should not be on a DP contract

Agreed on Valdez. ( the crow does not taste good)

I think the team has pretty good depth, but you're right. It certainly didn't look as stacked as we would like.

I think it's hard to judge Sigi vs Schmetz. Sigi didn't have Lodeiro, and I think most of us agreed at the time Lodeiro was the type of player this team needed.

It's all if's buts and maybe's. Who knows if Sigi would have played him correctly or stuck him wide like he did with Morris at times. Who knows if Roldan would have taken the jump in form.

Sigi played favorites a lot e.g. playing Evans over Tiffert. I have no idea if Tiffert was ever any good as he barely played ( he was probably finished) over Evans who was functional in midfield but not a game changer and may have waited a few games to throw Lodeiro in.

Sounders will make roughly 600k from Yedlins sale. It will most likely be re-invested in the youth system.

Torres getting called up isn't really a big issue.

Goal Line technology will be in MLS within 2 seasons. Quote me on it.

Schmetz made the right call with the line up last night. He rested the right players and got a result.

Listening to schmetzer talk about his team is magical. I highly suggest you watch his interviews.

I've watched his interviews. I like him as a person, I think he's a great dude, he's the perfect spokesperson for the team and the community.

His tactics and substitutions are my biggest question marks. Maybe Uncle SI or someone with a bit more tactical insight can give me a different perspective, but I haven't seen anything special from him. I think Caleb Porter showed a glaring weakness in his tactical approach, and talent bailed us out in that game. This weekend will be another test. I hope I am wrong.

If we have a shot at Pellegrini, Schelotto, or Bradley.... I think right now I lean towards those guys.

For some reason, the Sounders always seem to struggle to win against the Dynamo in Houston. I think it's the orange kits that throw them off.
