Trading good draft choices for a 1/2 season rental. More JS stupidity. Not that I don’t like the player but JS is truly a world class moron.
Yeah...I mean nevermind that if Kupp is hobbled the rest of the season and we don't have a reliable #2 after JSN...GOD FORBID we get a vet to take some pressure off of Horton.

Very simply the problem I have with this trade is it reminds me of the Jamal Adams trade. You do not trade for a player who is going to be an upcoming free agent without renegotiating a contract PRIOR to the trade. Once the season is over, his agent knows that Seattle had given up a fourth and fifth round pick for him and will demand a higher price tag from Seattle, knowing they would not want to have egg on their face to let him walk. I negotiate for a living and would never take the approach that Schneider takes on these trades.

And how do you know they are not going to re-sign him? Way to assume the worst, as usual.
I'm shocked they didn't ask your input for this trade.

We traded a 4th for Jones and it worked out fine.

My point went over your head completely. Please reread what I wrote.

It did, but for a while, he sat out there on the free agent market and it was a little up in the air, whether or not Seattle was going to be able to retain him. Again, the issue is these agents are not dumb and they know that if you give up draft capital to acquire your player in the final year of their contract, the team will not want to have egg on their face if they are unable to retain him. Hence, the agent has much more leverage in getting more money for the player.

Perhaps they are happy to see how the player works out and if he does they are happy to pay him.
