Given how our GM is hitting mid-round picks out of the park as of late, I'm not thrilled giving up two of them for a guy in the last year of his deal, but it looks like a good move for a good player. I can see why the team would want Shaheed. He's the vertical threat we were hoping was going to be MVS, this is just the non dumpster-diving version of that move. I imagine he'll be our #3.

We really needed to add another WR to the mix anyway. Kupp is hurt and we don't know how much he has left in the tank anyway. Horton is WAY outperforming his draft slot, but he's still a rookie, and rookies often hit the rookie wall. Bobo is the antithesis of a vertical thread, aside from being very vertical himself. Young and White have splash plays here and there, but you can't depend on either to get open consistently.

JSN with Germaine Ifedi and J'Marcus Webb as our #2 and #3 wideouts would be better than a lot of teams. JSN with Horton/Shaheed/Kupp/Bobo/White is pretty damn good. Not so good that JSN shouldn't be wrapped in the world's thickest layer of bubble tape whenever he's not actively playing, but pretty damn good.
Disagree.

On what?

On the "I imagine he'll be our #3" part.

Considering the uncertainty with Kupp's health, I think he'll be our #2 with his experience and explosiveness.

Plus he'll take some of the pressure off of not only JSN but also Horton in his rookie season.

Rat made a lot of good points. Def. makes me wonder if Kupp could be out for a while. Hope not, but that's the type of injury you gotta' be careful with. If Kupp was healthy, who knows? Maybe they don't even make this move. This offense is really clicking. Adding another solid WR with incredible speed? Seems like a pretty good add. Hopefully John does his usual and adds some mid round picks during the draft next year.
I couldn't agree more on his better work being done in the middle rounds, esp. 3 thru 5.

Seems to me we basically got a DK replacement, except a bit more explosive and without the on-field volatility and baggage. I'm guessing the only downside is he perhaps doesn't block as well as DK, but guessing, if this is true, that the FO considers that to be a minor point considering what he brings to the table.
He's not as massive (or rather look like he swallowed a truck-full of steroids) as DK nor is he as Tall (I think he's just 6 feet tall or am I wrong?) but he's definitely faster (duh!) and isn't worried about the Grass being Greener. :devilish:

It's a steep price for a rental at a position we don't need. Sure, we aren't forced to re-sign him, but it looks like a foolish trade if we don't, or if he doesn't perform at a level where we'd want him back.
Why not use one of those picks to trade for an upgrade at C or RG, and the other pick to bolster the WR group?

Too much risk, not enough reward.

It's not a steep price because the 2026 draft looks like ASS from even the first round.

Giving up the 4th and 5th rounders of an ASS draft isn't something to concern ourselves with.

"Hope" being key here, but... looking at my glass half-full 'til someone actually grabs it and dumps its contents -- and maybe nobody ever will. KICK-ASS signing with KICK-ASS long-term ramifications possibility remains alive:

So reading between the lines, Corbin is basically stating that the Seahawks are viewing this as an audition for Shaheed to show that he can have a future here.

The Seahawks should be a playoff contender and the picks are half a season away so they're not giving up full Draft chart points value at the time of the trade. It's worth about 66 Draft chart points net so it's the equivalent of pick #114 overall. Even if you get nothing back it's not a big issue. It's a perfectly reasonable risk/reward move at the right price.

I’m usually not an Eeyore type guy but, while I won’t say this is a bad trade, we’re pretty stacked weapon wise.

I’m going to disregard Kupp…it is what it is…but, do we not think Horton will develop into a #2? What about Arroyo…Barner?

The counter is we have another threat to take heat off of JSN. in my opinion, that already existed before this trade.

Are we sure we re-sign him?

Any LB’ers or RG’s available?

Not sure I’m feeling this as much as I would with another LB or Guard coming on board. But, I also don’t know who is/is not available for those positions.

Solid player…but can’t give this anything higher than a C. 🤷

I’d upgrade this to a B, B+ if a new deal is worked out. Now, that would be a solid trio of WRs..
Get ready to upgrade it then.

This guy is too good for the Seahawks to just acquire him, have him play well for us (which he will) and then just let him walk when we have the cap space to re-sign him.

And Kubiak probably wouldn't want him here if he was some hothead that disrupts the locker room. Been hearing a lot of good, no bad comments so far, except from peeps that I know are trolling. ;)
Been hearing he's a very nice guy so basically we might be getting a very good receiver with a Sam Darnold attitude.

This was a good move at a position of need after losing 3 WR last week. You're bringing in a guy who has 500 yards already (your next closest guy has only 293 and is hurt). He gives you another option as a kick returner after losing yours in Young. It's a guy who played in your OC's offense just last year, so no learning curve. To complain about this move is very short sighted.

Yes we all wanted a Guard, but none were available. Exactly ZERO guards were traded. JS can't magically pull one out of his butthole if no one is willing to trade one. Don't knock this trade because teams didn't want to trade away quality linemen...

Good point, and one I've tried to make several times over the years. It's fine to say "why didn't they go get a Guard?"
But......when the ENTIRE LEAGUE doesn't trade for the same position, how in the world does that make JS an idiot?
And we will never know what he tried to do. It's not just a "Seattle" thing, it was league wide. Show me where a solid guard was traded for.
I don't see one.

Hopefully this turns out to be another rental in the vein of Big Cat.

Another valid test: the Saints fans I'm seeing are unhappy.
Sample post from the Saints forum:

"Purely from a fan perspective I'm sad to see him go. UDFA makes good and turned into a legitimate weapon. He could really stretch defenses and he would have been helpful in Shough's development this year. Also will not be giving this front office the benefit of the doubt. Sucks that we gave a 4th and a 7th for Vele who (for now) seems like a JAG and then got back a 4th and a 5th for a legit weapon."

The general consensus there is that they loved Shaheed, but they also understood that their team was going nowhere this year. Some anger that the front office created the situation that led to this, and that they didn't get more for him.
