I don't understand why people were so impatient about this. How would it have mattered or made any difference if this was announced a week ago? It's still January. The conference championship games aren't even over yet.

Who knows? I guess if it wasn't a quick and immediate decision then that means they missed out on all the best prospects and are stuck with bottom-of-the-barrel OCs who are destined to suck.

I think OC is hard to fill. You either get an old HC who has been fired, or you get a person who’s never held the reins. How often do experienced OC’s change teams without a promotion? And head coach is basically the only promotion

I think coaches should always be trying to hoard OC candidates and groom them up and teach them to become head coaches, then promote from within.

He's been an OL coach in the league for decades. Outside a few seasons in SF I'm not sure I'd go crazy about his resume.

Coached a textbook awesome ZBS with the Texans under Klint's dad. He's no Jeff Stoutland, but he can get a unit into operational shape in a scheme he's familiar with.

Perhaps, or considering the clear hassle to find an OC, I wouldn’t be surprised if this entire time they were working it details like not taking off the very next season for a HC job or pay bumps every year to ensure he stays for a bit. Maybe, I don’t know. I just don’t want this again next year.
