Stem cell osteopathy treatments are legal in the US, as are prolotherapy and platelet rich plasma (PRP). My DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) does them, but pretty much no insurance covers them and the stem cell is the "Cadillac" treatment (it's also the most uncomfortable one. For the stem cell treatments they stick a needle in your bone and suck out marrow. Maybe Rice is going to Europe because they can get the tissue from somewhere else (someone said cadaver; don't know if that's viable).
I've gotten a torn suprasinatus (rotator cuff) tendon that wouldn't heal and a displaced ulnar nerve fixed through this kind of stuff. Recovery isn't instant but it accelerates the body's repair process so much that you'll see substantial improvement in weeks to months. If I had surgery on my shoulder it would have taken me months to recover. My wife is getting nerve damage relief in her back with PRP.
If you guys get connective tissue tears/damage you should find a DO who will do prolotherapy, PRPs, and stem cell procedures. It's not covered by insurance but I'd rather spend my money on getting my shoulder fixed than something stupid. I also recommend using basic lifts (squat/deadlift/press/bench press) around the treatments so you can see the healing progress in action as you progress through new weights you were unable to do before.
