Here’s how the day of your favorite neurotic mess of a 12 went.

Woke up at 3am. Couldn’t go back to bed. Finally got out of bed around 5am. Went downstairs and realized the stars looked AMAZING! Took some pretty cool photos.

Tinkered on my phone until Vikings/Browns kickoff at 6:30am. Better game than I expected. Cool.

Headed out to breakfast and the beach in Seaview,WA at 8am. Found a giant shark dead on the beach. Photo in The Lounge if interested.

Went back home to Astoria and walked to the Farmer’s Market. The entire time I am wearing my authentic home custom jersey. The usual “Go Hawks!” Could be heard here and there.

Went home and realized it was kickoff time.

Told my daughter I was going dark until after the game. Shut my phone off. Went back to Seaview, WA and played pool and shuffleboard for the next 3 hours. I felt safe not worrying about finding out about the Seahawks game since it was an old vintage hotel with no TV.

Just when I thought it was safe, two people walk in wearing Seahawks attire.

Crap.

I told them immediately to please do not tell me the score and that I was avoiding the game for self preservation reasons. They were happy to oblige.

About a half hour later I couldn’t take it so in my “2 glasses of wine in” bravado I went over to them and said to please only alert me if something good happens. Again, happy to oblige.

My girl and I resume shuffleboard. In a few minutes the woman walks over and says “Tie game!” That is the first time I heard the score.

28-28.

I looked at my girl and said “See?! THIS is why I spared myself and you the pain and suffering of 3 hours of stress and cardiac arrhythmia!”

Eventually, I realized there was no more news coming. I sat at my table , preparing for the worst. My girl says “Let me check the score. Oh, Seahawks won!” I about jumped out of my chair in elation when she quickly corrected herself…”Oh babe I’m so sorry! I thought the score on the left was the Seahawks!”

After dismembering her remains, I forgave her.

In the end, this old fart was right. Trust your instincts. Save yourself, your ticker and your relationship.

After all, it’s just a game.

It was brutal to watch. I haven’t seen receivers running that wide open through the zone in a long long time. I heard it was the first game in NFL history that both QBs threw over 300 yards and had an 80% completion percentage. It was a fantastic game and it’s a shame we made a few more errors than the Bucs. They seem to be the team this year that pulls out every game late. They could be a legit threat for the #1 overall seed this year in the NFC. Maybe we will see them again.

I’m not going to get too torn up about today. The offense has arrived. It’s up to Mac to get the D refocused - and that’s the strength of the team - we will be back.

It was a real good game. Offense and Teams were on point. Lack of defensive depth really was on display. Losing Hall to an oblique at the end of the 1st quarter hurt.

NGL…I’m worried about our corners. Spoon doesn’t fit a traditional CB role. Love was definitely missed.

Our two losses are a direct result of bad CB play. We can point to the gadget play turnover w/ Milroe, the missed FG…

But we have a glaring weakness and teams know it.

Jeez I’m rambling…

I enjoyed this post Aros! That fish skeleton looks like a dang alien.

It was a thrilling game to the very end, with excellent performances on offense. Darnold, JSN, Barner, K9, etc. It was Darnold's best game of the season. The back up defense let him down.

Im watching the game now. Very impressive performance by Darnold and company. The defense? Not so much. I get there were quite a few backups but Eeesh. 38 points?

The defense owes the offense dinner this week.

I got the jitters during the game and started stress cleaning the house while the game was on...

I disconnected on that level years ago. Yes it's still frustrating as hell to watch that crap when you know the team is better than what theyre showing. But after the game, tv went straight to the mariners. After they pulled it out, went to bed and slept like a baby. It's just a game.

There are times when I envy those who do not care much about sports and closely follow a team like most of us do. Maybe that's what life's like over the rainbow. Sigh!... (fade in the trusty ukulele).

I understand why you do what you do. But really we all need to stop putting sports on a pedestal above almost everything g in our lives. It’s a game. And the players care less than fans do. So let’s start caring as much as they do.

The game was a blast, just couldn't stop them at ALL. Baker is one hell of a QB. But so is Darnold.
On to next week, had a shot to put this away, but we saw something that was VERY clear, imo: Having Love and Spoon not out there, this defense looks as bad as it's been in a couple of years. Wide open guys ALL DAMN DAY LONG, little to no pressure on the QB. Incredibly STUPID play call when the Hawks were about to go score. Why in the world are you bringing Milroe in there? And that toss to K9? Not even close to cacheable. So, once AGAIN, he gets cute and it backfires.
On a positive, Darnold is a grown man. Some of his throws were just plain ridiculous.

turned it off in the 1st quarter. I knew it was a loss having watched every seahawks game since the dawn of time. Spared myself all kinds of angst. Might go back to recording and not watching live games.

My thought when I heard the Mariners win was "At least the Mariners won so that takes a bit of the sting out of what happened".

You forgot to mention (well you did mention it in another thread) Kubiak's decision to not run the ball on a 2nd and 2 with all 3 timeouts. GRRRRRRRR!!

Wow. Seriously?

So you missed what was Darnold's best game (despite the finish that should not have gotten to that point).

I mean what's the point then if you're not going to watch the Seahawks when they're down in the 1st quarter?

Did you turn off the game when they were down 14-7 at the half to the Steelers in Game 2 as well?

The offense was really amazing. We also played a injury riddled team. There were just a couple of mistakes the fg miss the Milroe experiment. Darnold is for real. Very excited about that. The one 2nd and 2 bomb....loved it. Barner has arrived, he shook that tackle. D was a mess. We got to go get some secondary with more durable peices.

I watched the Steelers game. That felt like a win. I can't watch bad defense it's not enjoyable, not even a little. Something cathartic about not watching losing football and being able to delete it knowing I didn't waste 4 hours of my day watching a shit show only to be put in a foul mood for the rest of the day. Writing this out has made me decide to not watch the rest of the season live. Thank you!

Well...okay then.

See you next season, I guess. 200

EDIT : ACTUALLY @Chukarhawk , I misread what you're saying.

You said "Not watch the games LIVE".

I don't do that myself either.

I have NFL+ so I watch the replays of the games (if I so choose). ;)
