Mayfield is guaranteed $40M if he leaves after 1 year and $60M if he's there for year 2. No sane GM is offering Wilson that deal.

Unless that is the going price for vet QB with winning record.

I didn't think Mayfield would get that deal last year so i'm not the expert here. Last year was an anomaly with 6 top QB prospects in the Draft and no top QBs retiring. Mayfield had by far the best season of his career. I'm not saying Wilson won't get $20M+ per year on a multi-year deal, (I think he will), but i'll be surprised if he gets $40M fully guaranteed or $60M over 2 years. After all ESPN had him as their #22 QB by their QBR rating.

If he does, good for him, but I really doubt it. He ended the season with 5 straight losses and is on the outs with his Offensive Coordinator (sound familiar??). I think Pittsburgh lets him walk and they go in a different direction. Russ simply costs too much money for average, one dimensional play that throws any offensive game plan out the window because he's only effective off-script.

Russ has the NY Jets written all over him.

Meh Russ has been better these past few years than Seahawks fans want to admit which I find weird but whatever. I'm a big Russ supporter but he isn't getting that contract.

I think a team like Vegas would love to have him as a one year bridge though. He was be awesome for a rookie to learn from and mentor, which Geno gives Russ a ton of credit for but it won't be for much.

Geno Smith would hope that Wilson gets this $100mil contract, one less competitor for teams needing a vet QB, and gets the bar for vet QB market.

I'm interested in that I always enjoy content about teams I don't like potentially making bad moves.

It'll be $100M if he signs for 4 years, but how much of it would be guaranteed? I'd guess at year 1 and a small roster bonus in year 2.
