Anybody feelin' this?

I felt like every time the Seahawks came up with a big-play, they would put Turbin in a short-yardage situation and he would instantly kill the drive.

I honestly don't see what Bevell, Cable, and Smith see in Turbin to continue to give him important carries against a dominating front 7. Turbin, to me is a RB that can exploit defenses with a functional O-line not one who is going to be successful behind a bad one (See reference to Julius Jones).

And I don't understand why Michael keeps riding the bench. He's probably the most explosive player on the team and like Marshawn Lynch, Michael has improvisational play-making ability that teams can't game plan for. You don't need to pass-block, to run the ball.

IMO, a Lynch and Michael tandem could have broken open this past game much earlier.

Dear Seahawks, don't become the 49ers (LeMichael James), give some carries to your young athletic play-maker and get him some real experience. You're letting Derrick Coleman learn by trial and error. Get Michael some carries and quit acting like Turbin is a more capable player than what he has shown in the bulk of his carries.

Have you stopped to consider that there might be a REASON that Michael isnt getting in games? Something not quite as obvious as skill with the ball? Looking at the only time he has been let on the field I would say Michael doesnt know the blitz pick up schemes, and probably generally hasnt learned to read what Wilson reads. All 3 guys can carry, but our coaches have always valued the other aspects of the game more.. anyone can run a ball through a hole (obviously with different levels of success) but not everyone can know who to block, how to block, when to run a wheel route, etc.

I'm not gonna hate on Turbin but it would be nice to see Michael gets some snaps. We lack homerun hitters right now on offense and Michael has the chance to break one every time he touches it. One of Turbin's three carries was blown up while he took the hand off by JJ Watt(actually did good not to fumble) and another one went for 7 yards.

Again, you don't need to pass-block to run the ball.

And to me there is a big gap in the way Turbin runs the ball as opposed to how Michael runs the ball.

Michael is a game-changer, Turbin is a game-preserver.

And the team hasn't even used Turbin, to his strength, which is a receiver, and his pass-blocking, while probably the best out of our RBs, is really not that great.

Michael isn't quite refined yet. An example would be against Jacksonville when he tried to spin and do a 180 and run in the other direction behind the line of scrimmage...has to unlearn that stuff he probably got away with in high school and college, and as others pointed out I'm sure it will take some time for him to learn to read defenses better, too.

Man has a few bad plays and everyone acts like this is his MO. The same people that loved him all last season.

And all the hate, yet he has only had a grand total of 15 touches in 4 games. Averaging 3.8 during those touches. Of course it would be a lot more if two of his big runs weren't brought back by penalties. But that's the way it goes.

Beastmode has gotten stuffed numerous times behind the line this year. It happens in games. Let's lay off the guy that's a third down back and has only had 15 touches before we throw away a great talent.

I would venture that Lynch is our best pass protector. He can beast mode a LB..just gets so much press for his main role he doesnt get recognized for it.

I know what youre saying..but the situation clearly indicates that Michael has problems, probably beyond just pass protection. He may not know the play book, or it may be a "message" if he isnt doing things we dont see right (study habits, gym habits, etc).

If you don't use an RB to pass-block, you might as well attach a big sign to his helmet that says "HEY, WE'RE DEFINITELY GOING TO RUN ON THIS PLAY" every time he enters the game.

Also, people weren't complaining about Turbo before we used a second round pick on a shiny new running back. I really don't like this mentality that fans have of dumping on a guy early in their career as soon as new rookies come in. Happened with Tate, Unger, Red, Okung... you name it. Turbin showed very nice burst the first two games. He's had limited touches in the last two, and our O-line is in shambles. Give him a break.

Wow this thread isn't nearly as ugly as I thought it'd be, kudos to .NET community.

I'm not the biggest Turby fan but slapping him with the JJ moniker is perhaps premature and a bit heavy-handed.

I would echo those who want to see more Michael in the game plan, although without an OL, Lynch is the only back on our roster I really trust out there.

I'm not trying to come off as Turbin is a bad player, but for someone who looks as powerful as he does, he gets taken down rather easily.

Just my opinion, but Michael "winging it" looks like better as a rusher than Turbin "understanding it".

This is a team, that just this last year and in past years, that has put plenty of rookies on the field and let them gain experience and learn from their mistakes.

This is a team that dumped one of the best FBs in the game as well as team leader and locker-room savant, Michael Robinson and chose to go with the unpolished Derrick Coleman. A player that Sherman Smith said that it was his first year ever playing the FB position. And they continue allow Coleman to learn by trial and error while we learn from Robinson that the team didn't even ask if he would take a pay-cut to remain with the team.

Why not Michael. If his pass-blocking sucks, let him get pancaked in a real game, most likely, he'll pick himself up and try better to not get embarrassed. In practice its one thing, if front of a crowd, on National TV its totally different.

I'm not saying give Michael, Turbin's work load... but at least give him some snaps especially when the team is having obvious trouble in moving the ball because again C-Mike has improvisational play-making ability that a team can't plan for. Give him a touch or two and see if he can break something open with his elite athletic ability.

He did great last season and everyone loved him. How fast they turn. Our running game has not been exactly lights out so far this season. Lynch is really fighting hard for those yards. But with a healthy line and a consistent running game he was and should still be a great addition to the run game. Where Lynch beats the D down with physicality Turbin finished them off with speed and great catching ability out of the backfield.. Not everything is clicking as a unit yet. But it will. I think he deserves a shot.

Turbin, is still showing the same weaknesses from a year ago, and that is a lack of lower body strength, getting tackled rather easily, and isn't the short-yardage bruiser his size and physicality would suggest he can be. I still think Turbin is a good player overall, like Julius Jones was capable when the O-line functioned well but I still rather see Michael get some touches especially if its just giving Lynch a quick-breather after he goes full beast mode on a defense. Michael would easily exploit a defense after it lost its edge for a play or two.

Just going to float this for kicks. What if...and this just for fun, Bevell is planning on springing him simultaneously with Harvin? Imagine how explosive that combo might be. Line those two up in the backfield against anybody. No film on them and it could get interesting in a hurry. I would like to see it.

Turbin is far from our biggest issue at the moment though. But I understand.

I'm not sure..... I think I would like to see Michael come in more Not in a pass protect play... but in a designed run to the edge play. he is faster then the other two.
I like turbin. heck I like all three. but its time to get the youngin some reps

Pass blocking is a learned ability and you aren't giving it the weight it deserves. Michael may very well be our third down back in the future but he isn't there yet, and suggesting he will be ready now if he just tries hard for "National TV" is silly. I agree that Turbin is not an ideal third down back, but they have had to juggle things because Harvin was our replacement for Leon.

Coleman got some work as our third down guy in the first three games. I don't think we have given him a third down carry yet, but we have thrown him an outlet pass and a screen pass. I think his ability to step in there had as much to do with him getting the job over Robinson as the relative difference in salaries did.

Michael is the feature back in the future, turbin is the 3rd down back. Lynch is awesome but he won't last forever
