RGIII/Russell post game comments

Saw the post show where RGIII talks about the game, totally talked about himself, his knee, hinting our corners may have cheated a little right before interception. Russell comes on, talks about teammates, talks how he was pulling for RGIII that he wasn't hurt bad and gave him props. Russell, certainly the more classy QB amongst the two. Griffin, it's all about him, Wilson…totally opposite.

I never understood how the media made RGIII to be some great character guy.

The guy talked last week after the Cowboys win with a cocky swag that irritated the hell out of me.

Russell Wilson on the other hand is a straight class act.

Yeah, I was a little taken aback by RG3's interview after the game. He came off as arrogant and bitter, which, as I understand, is really not at all his personality. Kid's only 22, maybe he just let his emotions get the better of him, especially with his knee injury near the end. All I ever hear about is what a great leader and person RG3 is.

Funny, I just added a comment about his post-game interview in another post. I was never that impressed with Griffin as a QB but I respected him. Well, the shine wore off a bit after watching his post-game interview.

Wilson is always very complimentary of the other team regardless of whether he wins or loses. I like that about him.

My brother and I made the same exact observations after the post-game's. In short: RGIII all about himself... RW all about the team and respect for others...

Not that I'm swayed one way or the other and I don't know one way or the other, but I wonder how much of that "good guy" image is media hype and how much is reality. The media fricken LOVES this dude and it's easier to sell stories aboout a really nice guy who's a great leader etc. than somebody with the personality of Jay Cutler. He's peen put up on a pretty high pedistil since about half way through his last year at Baylor by the same media that tried to tell us Tim Tebow was actually a really good quarterback after all.

I thought his comments showed a player who has a massive ego and who wanted to be on the national stage despite the fact that he was killing his teams chances to win. He came across selfish and self centered. I also thought it was telling how not a single Redskin talked to him after the game. The dude was walking around the field alone, looking lost. That's not a leader in my book.

I don't expect anyone to be perfect. In 15 minutes he was up 2 touchdowns and on top of the world and the hope of a City. In the next 45 he had a season ending injury, and "let down" his team and his city. Are our expectations a little high when we expect him to be high character during the "we lost" interview.

He played his ass off this season, say anything, but he's a hard core competitor (He's the one who said, "you have to hate loosing more than you hate winning").

And most of all, there is only one Russell Wilson, I wouldn't hold anybody up to the standard he sets. That guys is among the highest of character.

Don't mean to pile on the guy (and i'll give him credit as he clearly knows how to work the media) but have started lookin at him differently last few weeks. First what he said to Romo last week right after he beat him and now this, not quite Cam Newton level but really needs to get his ego in check. Don't see how he is a true "leader of men" that the national media screams he is.
(Granted haven't followed Wash to closely all year and that talk may be deserved, but I haven't seen anything to prove it IMO)

I agree with a few posts above...I don't think RGIII is all that he is hyped up to be as far as a good leader. He seemed to me a bit like a overbearing jerk at times.

RGIII: No, passing was fine. If you're referring to that INT, I just under threw. I take full responsibility for it. However, Pierre was getting held pretty bad on that play, but that's besides the point.


Me: So which one was it, do you take full responsibility or was it the official's fault?

What the media considers "great character" in this guy is a well-spoken demeanor from an African-American. He sounds (and is) well-educated, well-read, intelligent- and the media is jumping all over it. It's all relative, right? It's almost back-handed racism. That being said, I haven't heard as much hype about his character than I have his athleticism, although his "great character" has been pimped.

I really respect Robert, and hope he recovers fully. His "great character" was not in evidence in his post-game, however, most of the questions were about him in particular, and I understand his attitude during the pressor. I have seen unselfishness from him throughout the year, especially talking about his buddy Alfred Morris.

It just wasn't in his post-game interview - I noticed it in other interviews leading up to the game. Russell always pointed out how good RGIII is and how much he respects him. RGIII on the other hand never says anything complementary about Russell.

Guy just lost a tough game and blew out his knee. I wouldn't be in the best mood either.

Going into the game RGIII did say about meeting Russell and being impressed at how he prepared and approached the game.

That being said, he definitely let his pride get the better of him yesterday...especially when he said he felt like him being out there was our best chance to win.

If I blew out my knee and lost a playoff game I'd want to be alone for a bit too.

No offense, but that is why you are not a professional athlete. It takes a level of discipline and leadership to be a QB in the NFL. No one wants to answer tough questions after losses, but that's what you do.
