Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that this game is going to result in the reverse of 2010. If you remember we went to New Orleans that year and got our butts kicked and then we played them a second time and won. This year we beat the Saints pretty well the first go around and now they play us again. I just have that weird feeling inside of me.

Why? Because you're an eternal pessimist. Seriously.

These are different teams at this point. They have plenty of different players and different coaches.

At some point, you just have to discard the past and look at the actual matchups. A result from 2010 will not have an effect in this game. The Saints' road record won't have any more effect on this game than our postseason road record did when we played at Washington last season. It's about the talent and execution of the players and coaches on gameday.

And I believe that we have a more talented team and will execute better in front of a deafening home crowd.

I could see this if we had finished with a better record but had to go to New Orleans and play. DIfferent story with them coming on the road.

I wouldn't characterize that 2010 regular season game as a butt-kicking. We moved the ball well - Matt through for almost 400 yards - in what was an offensive shootout. Difference in that game is that we kept settling for field goals while they scored TDs. It was NOTHING like the whooping we put on the Saints 5 weeks ago.

Are you gonna do this in every thread I post in? lol

But for the others, no one has really thought about this? I mean the NFL gods have not always been kind to us. I want to shake this thought but I just can't for some reason.

First, your memory is faulty. Sure, Seattle lost by 15 at NO in 2010, but was within a TD for part of the 4th quarter. Not a buttkicking. In fact, Hasselbeck threw for over 300 yards and it showed the coaches how to attack the Saints better in that 2nd game.

You are buying into the "its hard to beat the same team twice in one year" narrative. Which is fine, do so if you want to. But if you went across the board and looked at the matchups, you would not be so quick to buy the narrative.

Soooo much negative energy on this forum....

I super nervous for tomorrow's game, but to go all doom and gloom based off past teams, players, and scenarios is just total tard-ness.

In 20 years from now we could still be talking about how dominant this team was and how good we had it. EMBRACE IT!!!!!!

I'm not nervous at all. You could have not have asked for a more favorable opponent and situation that what Seattle has in this first game. Maybe the Saints win. I'd give them maybe a 10% chance. If so, it just means the Saints were very lucky, or Seattle really unlucky. But the odds favor us so much that it feels like Seattle is starting the game with a 17-0 lead.
