I don't think the officiating in the NFL is terrible. I just think it's a ridiculously hard game to officiate. Maybe the hardest.

That's why officials have to get over the stigma of being wrong. Consult with other officials and pick your laundry back up off the field when you make a mistake. I seriously think these guys should carry tablets on the field that give them private instant replay so they can double check their calls in a heartbeat.

The problem is that it is too easy for a single call to totally transform a game in the NFL, and it would be a judgement call that does it. We saw it happen last week with Earl and last month with Tate. Those were HUGE calls that swayed the game pretty significantly.

To me the problem is reviewing plays like those would help the integrity of the game and not reviewing them leaves the league open to suspision of fixing games.

It doesn't have to even change the game time or otherwise. Just make everything challengable and just like a call now if there isn't enough info to overturn the call the team loses a time out. Pretty simple really so why not make it happen? Unless you want to be able to dictate how games flow.

I hate NFL rules and refs. I know its hard to ref in the league but seriously? We didn't use to see calls this atrocious on a weekly basis did we? It's not like these are even isolated incidents. It's happening repeatedly around the league.

Add in ridiculous roughing the QB and defenseless receiver's penalties and it's pretty hard to watch.
