Trade was still worth it. Helped win us a super bowl

I am now praying to all the deities that exist in this world that Horton returns 100% healthy (and stays that way).

Otherwise, we're going to be in trouble.

Also, we now need to draft a WR.

Take a hike for $15MM. I see more compensatory picks coming than expected… I also think we will shop some FA WRs ourselves. But $15MM is absolutely not negotiable for this role for us.

In JS we trust.

Gonna smash another draft here in a month and a half.

It would be nice to see him have a full training camp with Sam. To say he's just a returner is pretty absurd. We spent some Draft Capitol for him, he's proven himself with NO and there's no reason why he can't be effective here... I'd take him at 15 million much more than I'd take Jennings at that price.

I'm curious what he'll end up getting paid. To justify anything more than $7M you'd have to actually throw passes to him; on the other hand, I think he can get over $10M from another team that sees him as a decent receiver on top of being the best return specialist in the game. I was very surprised that we didn't use him more, but we won the Super Bowl, so not questioning the decision-makers.

Damn, it sucks we're likely going to lose Walker AND Shaheed. But, with JSN about to get top 3 WR money and Kupp's salary guaranteed for next year, it makes sense. We really need Horton to get right.

Hes as good as gone imo.
Maybe. There aren't too many teams with a ton of cap room and GM's will be looking at his injury history and lack of overall production as a receiver. Much like RB's, it's becoming more popular to go through the draft rather than to wheelbarrow cash to FA's.

John should stick to his guns. He has a lot of our own FA's to negotiate with and if you cave to one it will make dealing with the other agents more difficult.
Let the market set the price and let's see who wants to play for this team and compete for championships.

Starting to resign myself to most of our free agents walking barring maybe Jobe. I dont think we cant repeat the mistakes of paying too much for the skills positions though. Trenches, trenches, trenches. JS has done a relatively decent job drafting receivers

Brady Henderson said his agent is expecting 18-20 million. Insane. I hold no grudges to shaheed. For a 28 year old player who was a udfa go get paid.

You cant have 55-70+ million of your cap on receivers if you pay jsn 40, kupp 15 and shaheed 15-20. Recipe for disaster

This picture at Fieldgulls says it all :

Close but no cigar to re-signing Shaheed basically (is what that's saying).

Good luck, Rashid.

Please go to another division, though. (Thanks)

The Bills are trading for DJ Moore, so that might be one suitor for him gone. I suppose they could try to sign him in addition to the trade, but I would guess the trade significantly decreases the odds.

If Horton was healthy I wouldn't worry about this at all. He was more productive as a receiver before his injury than Shaheed. As for the special teams part of it, overall the team betting on Jay Harbaugh and what he can coach up for returns?

I think with Shaheed, if you don’t want or can’t justify paying a returner that much money, even though Shaheed will also play receiver and force safeties to continue to play high coverage, how do you replace an elite returner? Shaheed, can by himself, can the momentum of a lopsided game. That TNF game was looking rough until Shaheed took it back to the house. Seattle start out on offense in great spots because special teams with Shaheed puts Seattle in good positions.

Don’t think of it as only paying a returner big money, think of it as paying a player, cause he puts Darnold in better positions to succeed.

This.

Edit - and I want to keep both him and K9, but I'm not JS.

Raiders and Titans need a WR though and have tons of cap, especially the Titans
