I didn't realize he played such a big role in getting Carolina their team. Rip. wonder if the organization will do something to honor him this weekend?

NO!!

How sad that he won't be able to see what happens in February.

This is heartbreaking.

Very important to the Seahawks during those years, part of the reason he was tagged to head up the Panthers Organzation Expansion. Remember the Seahawks were the most successful Franchise out of the gate ever in the League.

Exactly, I remember when there was talk of him as coach at one point.

RIP big Mike.
He took over as interim coach after whoever was before Chuck Knox was fired (Patera?). IIRC it was like the last 9 games of that season and he went 5-4 after the team started 0-5 or 1-4. He then went to strictly the GM job and hired Knox. I'm not sure about all the numbers and such as I am pulling this out of the admittedly foggy memory banks. But I do know he was a helluva football man and wherever he went, success was sure to follow.

RIP Mike!

R.I.P. Mike. You will have a great seat though for the finish to this season and for years to come!

Here is an article from Art Thiel's website.

http://sportspressnw.com/2169533/2013/mike-mccormack-ex-seahawks-exec-1930-13

Mike McCormack, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame who served as interim head coach of the Seattle Seahawks in 1982 and as the club’s president and general manager for seven years after that, died Friday in Palm Desert, CA., at age 83. Under McCormack’s stewardship, the Seahawks enjoyed the franchise’s finest years until the mid-2000s, reaching the postseason four times, including the AFC Championship Game in 1983.

Condolences. He was a vital part of Seahawks history.

Absolutely....we've not had many great eras, he was involved in one. RIP sir.
