I was hoping to get this guy in the draft because I believe he will become a very good wr, along the lines if ADB. He will really help the 49er offense in the playoffs if he stays healthy

As stated in ivotuk's post, don't think a single person anywhere has argued that he IS a very good WR, just that he has the potential to be one if he can stay healthy and progress. A lot of folks really liked him coming out of college.
Hard to tell with the 9ers too just b/c the coaching staff has such a bias for vets. Patton couldn't get on the field at the beginning of the season because they were throwing in guys ahead of him they've now cut (Marlon Moor, Kyle Williams) and guys whose only advantage was tenure in the league (Baldwin). If Manningham hadn't gone on IR he would have never had the chance to have a few good plays last week, which were indicative of how he looked in the pre-season too.

Please stay on point. The comment was "He will really help the 49er offense in the playoffs if he stays healthy." Based on THIS YEAR's performance thus far that is highly doubtful, no matter how many excuses people come up with to explain his low production. It would be like a hawk fan saying "Y'all better really watch out for Ricardo Lockette in the playoffs he is going to do some damage!" Despite his mere 5 receptions in 5 games. It is simply wishful thinking.

The guy had a broken foot and missed 11 games.. he missed most of the offseason with a broken hand.. these aren't excuses, they are explanations.

It is an excuse, maybe better than some other excuses, but an excuse nonetheless. Maybe Webster can help you out with your confusion over the definition of the word. Needless to say, do you actually think that a player who missed so much time as well has extremely limited production for the time he did see is somehow going to magically produce during the most competitive part of the season? Of course anything is possible, but not probable.

Marlon Moore starting the season before being cut, Kyle Williams after him before being cut, Nnamdi over Brock until being cut, the nothing-left Moss being a starter last year before being let go, Sopoaga over RJF and Williams until they couldn't afford to keep him, Snyder over Boone until they couldn't afford to keep him, Goodwin through this year before he's gone.
The 9ers have an atypical # of vets who start before being cut in the same year or being let go for cap reasons only to be replaced by better players who were already on the roster.
Absolutely agreed injuries play a large role, but I don't think the preference for vets can be discounted.

I don't buy he Bias for vets thing. It sure hasn't stopped them from giving Reid and McDonald playing time this year.
Patton was hurt in camp, then hurt again in week 3. I think his injuries have had more to do with it than anything else.

I guess we have plenty of excuses for Harvin then.Milehighhawk":3lj6jk32 said:SoHo9erFan":3lj6jk32 said:Milehighhawk":3lj6jk32 said:Popeyejones":3lj6jk32 said:^^^^ Missed 11 or 12 games with a broken foot.
