Good enough to get us to the playoffs? Sure. To advance even past a round or two? Iffy

If people think that HE is the answer, standards have clearly been lowered.
"Lowered Standards"?, how the hell do you figure Soulfish?
He BEAT Wilsons' best ever season for yardage & Pass Completions, went from near bottom of the League by ALMOST ALL the bummer prognosticators to be in the top ten, >Made the Playoffs<, >AND the Pro Bowl<.
Sounds like 'No Matter What he did/does, it ain't good enough' for y'all? sheesh

It made for a good season since there wasn't a massive fall off from Russ to Geno. And if we could depend on the defense for points we could win with Geno but a big problem this season has been not enough points. Geno's ceiling is just too low and there is no way he can produce enough offense to lead us to a super bowl.

The thing is, if Mahomes was our QB we could have gone to the show this year. This isn't rocket science, we either build a defense that can compensate for an average QB or get an elite QB that can compensate for an average defense. As we have seen, PC tends to like his defense.

No denying that Russ had mad skills evading and completing passes on the run. He is one dimensional but it was enough when you have the LOB and the Beast.

Let's be honest the Me3 marks, even former ones, will always discount what every QB does here until one of them wins us a Super Bowl. Me3 hit them with hero ball syndrome something awful and they will not change their minds. I love the Geno did not will us to wins like Me3 did attitude when the games they are talking about featured our defense yielding time of possession of 36:55, 37:35*, 39:16 and 37:35. But, he had a chance to win the game for us, they say.

Tampa, we never got the ball back when Geno got it to a one score game.

Raiders, we made the game winning fumble recovery, but the refs decided to take it away from us when there was no whistle. The refs then overturned the pass to DK to kickstart our game winning drive.

Panthers game was not as close as the score showed as they ran our defense like deers.

The bid to come back against the Saints was ended by a Hall of Fame defensive player making a play.

The bid to come back against the Falcons was ended by a two time pro bowl, one time second team all pro making a play on a very well drawn up stunt that ate our offensive line for breakfast.

But Me3 could have won those games after Pete took him off the chains...

Mahomes can carry his 16th ranked defense to the SB. Geno, probably not. We need to be top 10, within the next year or two.
Let me know when we hit the 16th spot in anything on defense

OH wait.... we were higher with Wilson.. still didnt make it anywhere without a top 10 top 5
Ahh good ol memory with arm chair Gms

Yet again, can't have an opinion w/out getting blasted. I don't think he's great, I think he's good. I have a right to my opinion. People act like he's some elite QB. I disagree.
That's all.

Your missing the intangibles. Wilson was a die hard killer in the 4th quarter when the team was down or he needed to pull something off to win the game. Geno will never be that. Geno more likely than not will destroy your soul with turnovers or bad decisions. He is nothing more than a systematic QB who cant do anymore than that.

Lot of excuses here. Bottom line is Wilson did win us a ton of games when Pete took off the chains.

You love that Geno didnt will us to wins? I understand your expectations of the QB position now and why you love Geno. He's incapable of willing the team to wins so he must be your favorite QB of all time.

I'm glad they moved on from Russ, it was absolutely time. But, he was one of the best finishers we have ever seen, period. And he saved Pete's coaching mistakes, especially conservative crap w/a lead instead of putting the pedal to the metal, SEVERAL times over the years, several. When have we seen Geno with that closer mentality? ONE game, Rams winning drive on the road.
It IS ok to not be completely sold on the almighty Geno Smith. If it's a fair deal for a year or two, fine. But they also need to draft a QB to groom for the future. QB has always been the most scrutinized position in the NFL. Yet, Geno still seems to get a pass and/or excuses. Meanwhile, guys who had ACTUAL LEGIT PLAYOFF RESULTS and winning percentages like Hass and Russ were blasted on a daily basis. It comes with the position. Not sure how Geno seems to get more excuses than actual logical criticism. Oh well, to each his/her own.

Knowing that smoking weed is legal in Washington, you answer makes perfect sense...!
What the poll tells me is that 42.9% of the posters in here will not be allowed to watch our Super Bowl victory...

It's legal in California, too; and guessing from limited evidence it must be top-shelf.

Okay then, pray-tell WHY hasn't Wilson taken us to, and WON more playoffs in the last FIVE years that he's been here??
MAYBE he wasn't any better at putting the DEFENSE on his back and CARRYING them any better than Geno has in his ONE SEASON.
OH AND, keeping it truthful & real, Mr. "Die Hard Killer" got us a #5 pick in the 1st round + another high pick in the 2nd round of the upcoming Draft because of his inability to carry his end of the load with the Donkos, and they had a HELL OF A LOT BETTER DEFENSE than the Seahawks have fielded for the last 5 or more years now, eh.

Easy answer - Pete Carroll. His game planning is terrible and always has been in the post season. Pete needs a truly stacked team to overcome his ineptitude. Russ didnt have anything close to that in his last 5 seasons here.

Geno hasent put anything on his back. He doesnt have the talent for that.

Yep, the Broncos sucked. Russ has regressed and they had a coach that had no business being a coach. Does that negate everything Wilson accomplished when he was in his prime? To you I guess it does. Just keep loving on Geno and live with the results later. I'm sure he'll be the next player the FO massively overpays for that you can try to defend.

Now you're just making sh*t up, The question was "CAN Geno Take us All The Way", NOBODY I've seen in here has called him "Almighty", so c'mon man, he isn't a gotdamned scrub either soulfish, he got us to the Playoffs, and he's also gotten himself into the Pro-Bowl, his completion % is top of the League.
NO ONE is saying that he is the 'End-All-Be-All' Quarterback, but if he has a better Defense, Center, RG, and Run Game, I believe he's sufficient enough to take us to and yes, even win a Super Bowl.
I'm still wanting John & Pete to find another Quarterback to develop either in the Draft or FA.

And there you have it. Getting crazy worked up. Meh, no, he can't take us all the way.
Good not great QB. Absolutely NO WAY Geno takes this team to a Super Bowl. Would love to eat the crow, but it's not happening with Geno. And yes, that is an OPINION.

Nobody "Loving on Geno", just not SH^TTING on him like y'all are doing either.
OH AND IF they "Massively Overpay" for the guy, I will be just as p^ssed as you and Soulfish...By the way, the river in Egypt is called 'THE Nile'.

Beyond the team exceeding expectations and a good statistical year…

It‘s a bit of the Mike Cameron effect. When you replace a franchise legend (who didn’t leave under the best circumstances) and perform well, fans want to focus on the positives.

Don‘t remember the specific game, but recall Cameron snagging a potential HR off the top of the wall and you could feel the entire stadium experiencing a cathartic moment.

And My "OPINION" is that IT'S POSSIBLE that he can "Take This Team to a Super-Bowl", WITH a corrected Supporting Cast.
Look, I get that you don't like the guy for whatever reason, but like I said, he's "not a Scrub"
