He was seriously off today. Sooo many names wrong, stats wrong, yardage wrong calls. I felt bad for the guy like he had a stroke or something.

Dick Stockton is an old ass, out of touch individual.

Weird thing to whine about after a big win.

I don't listen to announcers in any sport ever. They're just background noise to me.

He called Murray's last throwaway for an interception. I think he was drinking the whole game

The best play by play guys used to be on radio...the good ones can make you see the game with your ears and mind.

Truth to this statement, Keith Jackson comes to mind.

Dick Stockton (who turns 77 in November) has been around so long he called the famous 1975 World Series and has done the NBA since the 70s too. He’s getting up there but he is somewhat of a broadcasting legend. Cut the old guy a little slack.

Dick Stockton should have retired several years ago. The OP is correct; getting names, players, circumstances wrong constantly. Whatevs...really happy with the win!

Dick Stockton has been around since I was a wee lad back in my day. He is still taking a young lad under his wing to teach him the ropes of broadcasting...aka Mark Schlereth that was a player for either da bills or New Yawk giants, I am not checking but remember he wore blue. As someone said, give him some slack. I remember him doing the Daytona 5oo for several years and some of the Wild World of Sports if you can remember back that far. I can. I am sure if they really wanted to, they could give him a reader card to read all you want to hear from him. But he has a voice and a wisdom that you cant really match. Not perfect, but that is not what we want, we want color and to criticize him. Well done. You win.

The main part of Schlereth's career was with Denver

Not trying to "win" anything here...and I'm of the same age you are I would guess. But...do your job, right? Most of the people I work with are half my age, and if I'm worth a damn, they should expect a certain level of professionalism and knowledge. I should be able to provide it for them.

I actually like they guy. But he was off today. Just was wondering if anyone else noticed. I am not saying to boot they guy. Buuut if he keeps this up over several games then I don't care about his resume IMHO he would need to go. Takes away from the game instead of adding to it.

Well, might sound drastic but, do what I do and mute the damn tv and listen to our radio guys while watching. Could well surprise you how well it works.

I noticed that too, that he mistakenly said "interception", and actually said out loud "You mean *incompletion*.", because it was such an egregious mis-call. I did notice him get player names wrong a time or two, not a huge deal, but distracting.

Overall, I didnt' have any real beef with the announcing team, and they did as good a job, maybe even a little better, than some of the announcing teams. Maybe it was Schlereth who simply did really good, to make me hardly notice Stockton's occasional mis-call, and to contribute good football information, things like showing the coverage on Will Dissly's TD catch.
