Not a surprise since they are paying him extra to stay on their Practice Squad. I think he's making $2500 more per week than the average practice squad player.

Shead would not take up a roster spot so it's a no brainer. The rules allow him to go from PS to active in cases of suspension

They'll do it if you have to, but once the suspension is up he would be taking up the extra roster spot. There is nothing stopping other teams from signing him right now, but if he plays well in those four games who knows.
Good points. Man, this is such a tricky game to be playing with roster spots. I wish the NFL would just increase the roster squad to include all the PS players and make them all game-day active. Sure would help to reduce injuries, IMHO.Spleenhawk2.0":39q6msfi said:Basis4day":39q6msfi said::0190l:Happypuppy":39q6msfi said:HawkFan72":39q6msfi said:Not a surprise since they are paying him extra to stay on their Practice Squad. I think the real issue with bringing Shead up to the 53 roster will not be on the activation end. Currently as a member of the PS, Shead can choose to stay (the reason the signed to a high PS salary) or sign with any other team - the player is in control. Once Browner is healthy (assuming he ends up ready for the playoffs), the Seahawks would then have to waive/cut Shead, exposing him to every other team. Suddenly the player is no longer in control, and any other team can claim him on waivers. Unless they are certain that they plan on keeping him on the 53, my guess would be that they will be extra cautious so they do not lose him.

This. I know the roster maneuvering strategy is interesting speculation( fun to play GM), but the #1 priority should be fielding the best slot CB we can. BB's return, and effectiveness upon return is totally unknown right now. I think we should develop a plan on him not returning or being 100%.Hawks46":3ck8n327 said:We better get this figured out soon or Kenny Stills is going to murder us in the slot next week. Seriously, Manning and Brady are killing teams with the slot WR. It opens up everything else. Then we have to factor Graham in.
We didn't just lose a CB, we lost our best slot CB and I'm not sure there's a suitable replacement on the roster. This could cost us the game next week. I know Sean Payton is working right now to take advantage of the roster hole.

Maybe they should test Pete too.
