"Kevin's in great shape now," Carroll said. "He looks very good. He's really competing to get on the gameday roster. He just looks really good doing everything, so we have no hesitation to put him in there if we can get that done."

Norwood said his ankle feels "great, way better than it has been." He used the word "very" four successive times while describing how excited he'd be to make his NFL debut.

"I've been waiting for this moment just about all my life," he said. "If I do get that opportunity I'm going to make the best of it."

I approve of this message. (And I hope he makes a few plays for us).

No chance, IMO. There's no way the Hawks keep 7 WR's active on the 45-man gameday roster.

Sure there's a chance. It just might come at Richardson's or Lockette's expense.

The NFL needs to have 60 man rosters. And about 50ish players active.

Just curious. The above references his ankle. I thought it was his foot?

Can't see him being active on Sunday. Walters and Lockette have to be active for ST, plus Lockette is probably more valuable to the offense than Norwood RIGHT NOW. Harvin, Baldwin, and Kearse are obviously in. That's already 5 active WR. P-Rich will probably make it six, but you're already pushing it at that point.

He might be active. If he is, I think the reason will be more related to the absence of Christine Michael than the performance of any other reciever.

The nfl just needs to do away with the active roster thing. They should be able to dress and play all 53.. It would allow young guys opportunity to develop quicker. I also don't get 53, why not just make it 55.

I don't understand all the fuss about the roster. If you understand why they expanded the roster from 45 to 53 then you know why you can only suit up 45 or now 46 players. It's about balancing the number of healthy players dressed for each team. In the past a team could put a player on IR for a 4 week minimum. You could then sign a replacement player to the active roster. The new system allows the team to simply deactivate an injured player and replace him with someone who is already on the roster. The IR was then used for season ending injuries. Those additional 8 players would be further ahead than most street free agents a team would sign as a replacement.

If the league allowed a team to dress 53 players for a game there could be a competitive disadvantage if the opponent only had 47 healthy players. Expanding rosters further costs money so I don't foresee any further expansion in the near future.

I want him to play and be active so we can see Wilson complete it to 9+ different receivers just for the hell of it.

Baldwin
Kearse
Richardson
Lockette
Walters
Lynch
Turbin
Coleman
Miller
Willson

Wilson doesn't need Michael, Norwood or Helfet on the active roster to do that. Hell, he completed passes to 8 of those guys last week!

I'm intrigued in what Norwood brings to the table.

He's one of the biggest WRs we have (if not the biggest with Rice out), and is as fast as Baldwin or Kearse (all ran 4.4 fortys). Baldwin is quicker and more sudden in his breaks, but Norwood has the largest catch radius of the WRs.

Thing is, I can't see him replacing Lockette or Kearse. Walters is in for PR duties, so this game at least, I don't see him breaking in.

If Thomas wins the PR duties back, I think we see Walters go inactive and Norwood take his place. Even if he does go active, it's hard to see him in many situations over Lockette (who has steadily looked better and better) and Kearse.
