Norton blitzed at least twice on Rams final drive

He really did try everything to stop that drive, lay back in coverage, blitz at least twice and I believe rush 5 once. I think this D still has a ways to go if the hawks are going to challenge for the NFC Championship. I think they can get there but they aren't yet.

It was better the final few plays of the drive but he called some horrible coverages early in it. Super frustrating for them to be playing soft and give up multiple wide open sideline catches for 10 yards to stop the clock. It definitely looked like soft zone.

That's what the Rams are looking to do and he let them take it. You have to contest the sidelines with Man and if we give up a 20 yarder in bounds that is better than a 10 yarder out of bounds that takes up 5 seconds. At least he kind of figured it out before it was too late.

This is not a championship defense.

And Norton is not really and never had been a great or even very good DC.

When you allow a team to get into scoring position in 1 minute on 2 separate drives, you probably are over your head.

He isn't Bevell bad, but with our entire offense having amazing games - he still almost lost it for us.

He doesn't have the great players we are used to seeing on a Seahawk defense. He still allowed 50+ yards in one minute. Twice. There is no excuse for that.

In the last 17 years that I've watched we have had many I want to say kind of big name D coordinators come in a lot of them were underwhelming. I feel Dan Quinn was easily the best. Miss him but he got promoted.

The team that won the NFC championship last year (and will likely challenge for it again this year) let the hawks pretty much do what they wanted on offense last night.

I agree that they need to play better, but imo there is some overreacting going on currently in here. They gave up 29 points to probably the best...or at least top 3- offense in the NFL. It happens

If the hawks can continue to execute at a high level on offense, and shore up a few things on defense, their playoff aspirations will be just fine.

One game away from getting Jarran Reed back. That can only help....

Agreed. Hopefully he's better in pass coverage than Flowers or the safeties have been. :stirthepot:

This secondary just doesn't have the horses to play the bend but don't break style that punishes mistakes. We could live with the short stuff because when teams tried to go across the middle or take shots, WR got blown up or created turnovers. Goff made a couple horrendous throws that should absolutely have been picked off. Couple that with some of the worst tackling in the PC era and this defense just can't be trusted.
