Bieniemy worked with Leslie Frazier with Vikings and Mike M holds Frazier in high regard. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a good look. He was part of the staff that had a top ten offenses with the Chiefs (2018-2022). The Commanders were a hot mess prior to him joining.
Pretty sure he passed at a really high percentage. I doubt that's what MM is looking for.

He led the league in passing rate with the Commanders last year and Mahomes hit 5,000 passing yards one his years as KC's OC, so definitely has that tendency. (Which is funny because he was an RB during his playing career and started his coaching career as a Running Backs coach.)

So yeah, might not be the right fit.

Also, Bienemy never called plays with the Chiefs. He was OC in name only as far as those duties go. He had been passed over for head coaching gigs specifically because he'd never shown the ability to playcall. The Commanders job was his first chance....and as has been noted he called an overabundance of pass plays.

Not to mention it’s been touted that he’s not easy to work with either.

Eric Bieniemy was just hired as a "consultant" by the Huskies. I wonder if the Seahawks look to him as a potential OC candidate. He had success with the Chiefs. Does he fit what Mike M is seeking from an offense?
Hell no. He has proven himself to have no clue. Passed more than any team in the league with Sam Howell. Nobody wanted him,had to go UCLA and got fired and now slumming at UW

I was watching a Rob Stanton video today he thinks it will be Peetz after some interviews involving other candidates. One thing that was brought up of the recent Superbowl champions ( mostly Patriots and Chiefs) the coordinators whose specialty was on the opposite side of the ball were former head coaches which I felt was interesting. Peterson and Jon Gruden were mentioned

Frank Reich would be sweet. But I'll be happy with whomever MM goes with. I trust coach Mac!

This would also make no sense since Jake Peetz was the passing game coordinator for the Seahawks. If Grubb was calling passing plays was a problem, then Peetz was a part of it. Plus it reeks of another Waldron type hire with no playcalling experience- an assistant under Sean McVay.

Jason Vrable passing game coordinator and WR coach at Green Bay.

He's young and has learned under Lafleur. Mike saw first hand what that offense did to us.

I heard Robert Mays bring up Nick Caley (Rams TE coach) Caley was apparently offered 3 million by the Patriots to be their OC last season, but he chose to stick with L.A

I don't see that happening when they have Peetz in the building.

This didn't age well.
I hate stuff like this. No one knew what they were going to do so this attempt to show someone is dumb for a 50/50 guess is lame. I thought Grubb would get one more year possibly but he didn’t. I also said I support Mike with whatever he does because I trust him with this team and he’s there and sees way more than we do.

Hard pass. He got "credit" for things where he was "involved" and IMO rode Andy Reid/Patrick Mahomes' coattails rather than being responsible for the successes. To me it seemed like Bienemy has been being pushed on teams because he has the right pigmentation. There are plenty of actually good coaches and coordinators who CLEARLY WERE the architects of their own success and also have the right skin tone. Vance Joseph, Mike Tomlin, Brian Flores, etc. Now two of those guys are DCs and one is a HC. Surely there must be several good candidates for OC as well if pigmentation is primary consideration, I just don't know who they are, but Bienemy isn't a choice for me based on track record, merit and temperament and ability to connect with a broad range of players.

Who are the OCs of color that NFL teams should be looking at, other than Bienemy?

He doesn't seem like a good fit. I'm not sold on Bieniemy either. Just pointing out the connections and why it wouldn't be surprising to me if he was on the interview list. At least he has experience coaching running backs, which is more than I can say for Jake Peetz, who has been a passing game coordinator for the majority of his coaching experience.

While I agree that the "I told you so" posts can be too much, I have no issue with giving it back to someone if they tell me how "wrong" I am, only to have the thing I predicted come to fruition. Especially when I back it up with reasons for why I think it will happen.

Do we really want another passing game coordinator with no play calling experience?
