Assuming Grubb grubs down his last meal with the Seahawks on Sunday, a name to keep an eye on is Shane Steichen. His seat is getting red hot in Indy.

Steichen would be an excellent hire. I have a feeling he gets 1 more year though.
With Irsay, I wouldn't be so sure about that. Either way, there should be some good candidates. I've heard the Hawks could even stay in house with Jake Peetz.

-- I would be shocked if Grubb is let go. First year in the league, developing some young talent. Successfully unleashing JSN on the world. I would like to see a little more balance, but it was his passing offense at Washington that got peoples attention. Might just need an NFL season under his belt, and he has that now.

-- The bigger issue might be with Charles London, the QB coach. I am not sure what he has done in his career, or this year, to maintain a job like this. He was with Atlanta overseeing Matt Ryan's final year there in '21, then Ridder and Mariota in '22, then Tannehill's speedy regression and nothing from Willis, nor Levis with Tennessee in '23. I certainly don't think Geno has improved in any phase, and if that small sample of onfield Howell is to be believed, he has regressed.

-- It is hard to tell from the outside who is truly responsible for certain elements in coaching, but I hope this issue is at least considered, ESPECIALLY if we bring in a rookie QB this coming year.

I don't like canning a guy after 1 year and I really hate always blaming the OC for all the problems. At the same time McDonald's style and Grubb's style seem to be worlds apart. Maybe it's not a big deal to Mike but it just doesn't feel like a good fit.

This. MM is a Harbaugh disciple. This is the furthest thing away from a Harbaugh style offense.

I think Grubb was more of a schneider pick than McDonald pick. It would be far-fetched that a guy from the University of Washington becomes the Seahawks offensive coordinator and that the new head coach who probably had zero connection to him selected him.

He's just way too pass happy. He was that way in College, but he spent much of this season calling the game like he was at UW. Can't do that with a crap O Line. UW had the #1 ranked O Line in the nation. They also had 3 WR's who are all playing in the NFL this year and contributing.

I wanted to believe in the guy, but his play calling just isn't cutting it. Not my call, but at this point, I hope they do move on to someone with legit NFL experience. And honestly, I've felt like this for at least a month. When you call 19 consecutive pass plays, behind a crap O Line? Enough is enough. His blatant refusal to even attempt to establish the run is maddening.

Brady Henderson did say that Grubb had to convince MM that he'd be able to shift away from the pass-heavy skew he had at Washington to call a more balanced NFL offense.
If that's the case, I don't see how Mike can trust Grubb with another season

None of us are privy to the behind the scenes conversations between MM and Grubb. Was Grubb trying to implement schemes that the players wouldn't or couldn't perform? Or did Grubb, with the best of intentions going into the games, revert to what he is used to?

I don't know the answers to those but Macdonald seems to be all about real accountability. Personally I hope that Grubb sticks around and has a successful run as our OC, but I'm happy with whatever Macdonald decides.
