Just thought I'd start a thread asking how everyone out there is.

I'm in NY and it's as I'm sure you've seen pretty bad here. On a personal note my doctor is convinced I do have Covid-19 as I have displayed all of the symptoms (headache, fever, loss of appetite (lost 8 lbs) cough, trouble breathing and loss of sense of smell and taste). This all starting happening about 2 1/2 weeks ago but I am feeling a little better now. Problem in NY is that if you are not very very ill you will not be tested. They just expect you to quarantine yourself and stay away from all others. I was exposed to others that have tested positive so it is what it is. I keep taking my vitamin C, D etc.. and try and stay hydrated.

Hope everyone else on this awesome board is doing ok.

Please feel free to share. Thanks and praying for you all.

Go (cough) Hawks!!!!

Sorry to hear you have it. Sounds like you're one of the lucky ones, though, if it isn't so bad.

Be safe. We're kind of in the same boat with soc-dist stuff.

Hope you get well soon. Bright side, if you get through it you should be immune. :2thumbs:

But heard a report the other day that people who get over it might still be able to transmit it to others.

The testing situation is simply unfathomable.

Good point on transmitting it. I asked my doctor when I can come out of quarantine and she said once I stop displaying symptoms for at least three straight days. Hell with that advice I may be in quarantine until 2028.

Man oh man I feel for you guys. I really do.
No neighbors and lots of space to be busy in so all this social distancing stuff doesn't change anything for me. I consider myself very lucky in that respect. But here in my state the number of positive is growing rapidly so that is worrisome. Sure hope this this lets up sooner than later.

Get better soon Seabowl! It’s starting to pick up her in Alaska. Not really spread in the Matanuska Valley where I’m at that I know of yet but I know it’s coming. Hunkered down for awhile. I’m going to hate to see when this hits the remote rural area hub towns like Nome, Bethel and such, as their Hospitals are glorified clinic and will be bad. I think everyone is in a pickle for the next few months (3-4), so protect yourselves and your families.

New Zealand reporting in. We're on lockdown and have been for the past week, but I've been working from home since a week earlier so I've been isolated for two weeks. No signs of illness among my family, and we're taking every precaution to keep it that way.

I may be over-cautious, but at least I'll be around for people to tease me about it.

Our government has been pretty pro-active and is being very supportive of people and businesses through all this. Yanks would probably call it socialist, but the government was running at surplus, and we're now investing heavily so we can bounce back quickly afterward.

A friend of mine over in Kiwi ville said the same thing. She is in lockdown and video chatting with her kids. I think her parents live up in ChristChurch. I also think they were working on teaching remotely. I know friends in Seattle area are.

Keep ya head up seabowl. I have a friend in oregon that may have it as well. Tele diagnosis thing. She is under the 60 threshold and seems to be battling well.

All yall be safe, happy, and joyful.....it could be a lot worse.

Hang in there Seabowl. Glad your symptoms aren’t severe.
I live in Southwestern Michigan. We are in lockdown except for necessary occupations, medical emergencies and grocery shopping. My hands are so dry from washing them all the time. No lie. No socializing really sucks and no sports to watch makes it worse. BORING.
Personally, I don’t know anyone who has been diagnosed. I imagine I probably would if I lived in a heavily populated city.

Question, and I mean this with the utmost sincerity as an out-of-starter. Why do you guys in WA think it took so long to issue the shelter in place? It’s perplexing....week 3 CA lockdowner would like to know. Stay safe my fellow osprey, kiss the recyclable bags goodbye ....shit will get tighter every week.

We weren't far apart from each other. Our Governor started it as a recommendation and then a few days later changed it to an order. But my wifes from California as is all her family and friends, your shelter in place I believe was on the 20th of March, our "order" was on the 23rd of March, and a day or two before that was the strong recommendation.

Glad to hear you’re on the mend. Take it slowly.

Health-wise everyone in my family seems to be OK as of now (knock on wood). Unfortunately, I just got laid off, three months shy of my 20th work anniversary. That hurt.

Guess I no longer have an excuse not to organize my closets. LOL

Hi Seabowl.

My sister's in NYC. So far she is not sick, or so she tells us. I would imagine you are avoiding your hosps now.

My other family is in the Bay like myself. I'm near Santa Clara so I as of March 2 quarantined myself. Thank God my parents in North Bay have immediate neighbors who have volunteered to get groceries for them. My mother, 86, likens this to the Korean War, which she survived...but at least then you could see the enemy.

A month ago, I was looking forward to the county fair. It sounds corny but I'm a huge 4Her type that buys at Junior Livestock.

They turned my fairgrounds into a field hospital today.

Yes definitely avoiding the hospital. Based on the way I have been feeling i wouldn't have gone even it CV wasn't around but would have made several trips to the doctor as come tomorrow will be three weeks that I'm ill.

Have to admit I really thought this virus was going to get out of control in the U.S. even back early February based on the reports out of China at the time. I started supplementing up then which possibly saved me from the most severe reaction to the virus although I still feel lousy. I would advise everyone to get a pulse oximeter as they can tell if you are really in trouble with regards to oxygen levels and breathing. That is if you can get your hands on one.

At this point for me it's like having the flu with funky symptoms. Loss of smell is probably the weirdest that I've ever experienced. You can't imagine what it's like to take food or even ammonia and stick it by your nose and not smell anything even without a stuffed nose. Eating is definitely not as enjoyable.

We have a friend who is a nurse and she said th hospitals are a war zone. Refrigerated trucks outside for the deceased. Just sad.

I'll lastly say that I went through 9/11 and this is on par with that although a little different in that 9/11 happened in a instant where this as you know is a prolonged ongoing event. NY'ers are tough though and will get through it eventually like the rest of the country.

Have a healthy and happy day.
