Considering the Sh't show the Bears FO and coaching staff is and the effect crap coaching staffs can have on players (waldron and Eberfluss, please stand up) i was wondering if it woukd be worth taking a flier on Davis on the chance that getting out of Chicago might change his fortunes?

I say that with the knowledge that our own o line coach and OC aren't exactly killing it so far.

I have also seen what a huge difference changing a player or two can make on a unit.

Maybe for right guard, not to replace Tomlinson.

Laken Tomlinson is ranked 42nd out of the 73 guards with enough qualifying snaps to be considered starters by PFF. While that's nothing to write home about, it puts him in the middle of the pack, a lot better than our previous right guard, Anthony Bradford who is ranked 70th.

Tomlinson also grades a little higher for pass protection, putting him somewhere around league average. People have pointed fingers at him all year, but it's not just him. The right side was the real problem before Abe Lucas came back and we were rolling with Forsythe/Fant/Jerrell with Bradford/Haynes.

Even with Laumea and Lucas taking over the right side, and Olu taking over for Connor Williams, we have a situation where the whole is less than the sum of its parts. We had hoped that Lucas's return would help to stabilize the line, but that hasn't quite happened yet.

Let's hope the last three games have been pre-season training for the reconstituted line, and that going forward we might actually see major progress going forward.

No way. Take it from a Bears fan — Davis is a lost cause. He’s one these guys who got his $$$ contract and cashed out.

Seahawks and Bears both need to stop screwing around and seriously invest some free agency and draft picks into the offensive line.

Davis was doing fine while he was with the Titans and blocking for king Henry. Waldron has a tencency to ruin anything he comes near so will give Davis a bit of pass here. If I were Schneider, I would sign him and give him a shot.

I also think we should take a flyer on him. For 1 he would be cheap since he got released. And he also is a better run blocker than pass blocker so I can't see how he would be worse than Laken.

Don’t give him more than a 1-yr. cheap contract. He’s always “injured”, and when he is playing, he sucks. He’s lost interest in football. I wouldn’t be surprised if he just retired.

I would just pick him up for the rest of the year, nothing more. This team would give him something to play for unlike his last 2 teams. Maybe the opertunity to play meaningful football would get him back focused.

Macdonald said in press conference that he’s going with Laumea again. That’s the right decision. He may get a little better with more experience.

Davis is not in top shape, unmotivated, injury-prone, doesn’t know the playbook, etc. Poles released him for all these reasons.

I would definitely go with Laumea at RG. But at LG we definitely need more depth. That's the spot where it wouldn't hurt to have some type of competition.
