As much as I love NFL football, I think Thursday Night games have to go. It's way too hard on the players. It's obvious, and I think the majority of them would agree.
Players have always advocated for this. The Thursday football product is watered down anyways. But the NFL insists it continues just cause so many networks are willing to pay the NFL to keep it going. Which is a shame cause they are essentially paying for a very expensive inferior product and not just one or two years, they are willing to sign for the long term, somewhat comical to me, but money talks and the people that makes these deals happen are also getting paid handsomely to make these type of deals. Terrible for the players—great for the owners. Never ends.

Pete went 7-9 his first 2 seasons
Dan Campbell won 3 games his first season.

Got to have patience and allow the coach the chance to do his thing and get the players he thinks he needs in. That wasn't going to happen in one draft.
Campbell won 3 games in 2021, Detroit was 3-12-1 in 2019, and 5-11 in 2020,

If anything they'll do Tuesday/Wednesday games next, coming off a bye or something. TV networks can't get enough of the NFL and will pay big money for it. They won't touch Fridays and Saturdays but we saw even in week 1 they would if high school/college isn't playing. It's America, it just feels like greed wins out for $$$ and screw the product.

The NFL players union is also a joke compared to MLB and the NHL. They can't stand firm because if players strike there's hungry replacement players with no contract ready to try for a shot. I think MLB is going to try weaken it's players union soon with a proper salary cap/salary floor in the next CBA which will lead to players striking but cheap owners having to be less cheap.

I'm not judging MM at all this season. Oh, I might question some decisions here and there but he has two season for me to think he was the wrong choice. And IF it gets to the point that he was the wrong choice I will NOT blame JS for it because he was the best choice at the time. (Of course there are dozens of other things to blame JS for. Wish he left with PC)

I'm not worrying about Macdonald, not even entertaining the thought that we might have made a mistake in hiring him. In my mind, he's playing on grace for at least his first season, maybe two. The only way you want to fire a coach in his first season is if he's completely inept, like an Urban Meyer or Nathanial Hackett. We fired Jim Mora after just one year, but it was clear that he had lost the team and that a completely new regime was in order, GM as well as HC.

I'd be more inclined to get rid of John Schneider than I would Macdonald, but even that isn't in the realm of consideration.

I am surprising myself to be saying this, given I feel it reactionary.

But after what I've seen the last three weeks, the range of possibilities from this season needs to be extended to include MM's firing on the far end.

Scheme, needs time, etc. are not good explanations for the total lack of fundamentals on this defense. Tackling, angles, getting off blocks, bad basic reads, etc. Fans were absolutely fine to expect better from someone with Mike's pedigree and he has not delivered.

As Durde handling such things and Mike just needs to clamp down? I don't know. But this is not professional NFL defense right now.

Come at me.

3-3 after 6 games matches many pre-season predictions. Losing to the gmen was a reality check. I think we have the right guy at HC, but need better players at key positions.

The Giants loss was like having someone wake you up after a long night of partying by splashing water in your face.

Awful, inexcusable loss. I have no idea if that game will ultimately haunt us but it sure has the smell of that type of loss.

I've always wondered if teams could be scheduled for TNF games around their bye week when possible. Maybe even set up bye weeks every week of the season for at least two teams who could then be the thursday night game the week after their bye.

I was thinking something simular. Add a bye week before every Thursday game. Each team plays one per year. Make it a huge event. A week to prepare, and extra days on the back end to recoup. Add a week to the nfl season and everyone is happy.

It's not like he has a lot to work with. Before the season, many of us said it would take a couple years, and it would be an up and down first season. We are seeing that, why should we be surprised at this up and down team?

I'm not even 1 percent worried about Coach Mike. Shoot, stoked about the future of this team.

The way forward is 10/11 days before and after Wednesday and Thursday football. 17 games over 19 weeks or 18 games over 20 weeks. Every team gets 2 such games per season.

We all should have known going into this season that things were going to take time to get them where we wanted. We all got drunk on the success of the first 3 games and hoped that what we knew had to happen was magically not going to happen. When you jettison a head coach, a bunch of players, bring in all new coaches with a totally different scheme and new players things aren't going to get fixed overnight. Things might actually get worse before they get better. And so here we are.

Give JS/MM some time and I'm confident things will get on track.

I'm not nearly that optimistic. But I'm not pessimistic, either. I'm in a wait-and-see, show-me mode. I like his style, but style doesn't win football games.

As far as his game management goes, the only thing I can think of that I had a big disagreement with was a decision to go for two on a conversion try. I can't even remember what game (Giants maybe?) or what the score/quarter it was, just that I didn't like it.
