I'm not a financials guy, just going off of what I've heard on radio and read in the papers. Solano, Moore, and Tellez were released months ago, so their numbers should already be off the books. Thornton too? IDK.

Anyway, there will be tons of speculation over the next few months and I hope there will be good news. Naylz in particular is a must keep.

Because all 3 of those guys cleared waivers (and baseball contracts are 100% guaranteed) their contracts remained with Seattle.

It'll certainly be an interesting off-season. Did ownership finally have the light come on and see they need to spend some more to make more and get the team over the hump? Or will it be more of the same?

Not loving the radio stations kind of bracing us for a post Naylor world and talking about alternatives. Wonder if he has indicated he wants to go to a big market or take the maximum $$$

I love Naylor, I don't think other markets will see him the way we do.
If he goes to the highest bidder, it won't be us and I accept that could
happen, we aren't the Yankees or Dodgers.

Regardless of what happens with Naylz, the team would be irresponsible not to check out other options. While Naylz may be first in line, it would be stupid if alternatives are not set up for the worst case scenario.

Both sides have expressed a desire to hook up, but 5 days after the Series is done, when real money starts getting flashed around all bets are off.

Oh, and it would be stupid of Naylz to not at least test the market, so to speak. From what I've heard there aren't a lot of 1st basemen available this year, so he probably has his pick of where to go to some extent.

He should test the marked. I just think it would be a huge blow to lose him. But I'm a Mariners fan, I know how this movie almost always ends. Sigh.......
As a fan it's easy to see this as unfinished business. But for a player, nah. It's about getting that bag while you can.

sign Naylor. Sign Bo Bichette. Sign Geno or Bregman.
Get another BP piece and right fielder.
What else?

Other than Cal and Julio, I think you can upgrade every position on the team..SS 3B 2OF's 2B, 1B(unless you sign Naylor)

The Ms need some higher average contact hitters, not a bunch of low average
with high strike out rate ones.
You can bet Colt Emerson is in one of the 2B,3B or SS spots.
Been saying this for years. However, Julio this year was seeing more contact early in the season, even though his power wasn't showing until July as usual. His BA seemed higher in May and June than in years past.

Huge part of Naylz's contribution was he was hitting in the high 200's, pushing .300. Cal hit for near .250, which is decent for a power hitter. Hopefully the FO learned a lesson from the BJ's back end of the roster in the ALCS. Their 6-9 hitters killed us.

Agree. Emerson should be our SS but he will likely be our 3B. Love JPs leadership but his production offensively hurts this team.

I’d have Young at 2B, Emerson at Ss and Bergman at 3B and bring back Naylor to round out the INfield. If we could somehow get Kyle Tucker in RF I’d jump all over that

I really don't understand why people continue to have this impression of JP. His overall numbers are good. Not great, but good, and certainly don't hurt the team. His numbers with runners on base or in scoring position are very good.

JP overall, .265 BA, .352 OBP, .722 OPS. Again, not great, but pretty good. You could do a helluva lot worse. Especially for a 9 hole hitter.

JP with runners on or in scoring position, .290 BA, .390 OBP, .820 OPS. Those are very good numbers, and better than Julio, Cal, Naylor, or Arozarena with RISP (except Cal has a higher OPS, but much lower BA). Quite frankly, JP was basically the only one of our core, every day players that was actually good with RISP.

I’d have Young at 2B, Emerson at Ss and Bergman at 3B and bring back Naylor to round out the INfield. If we could somehow get Kyle Tucker in RF I’d jump all over that

Young struggled badly with his hitting at the major league level. Definitely looks like a guy that needs more development to me.

Naylor, Bregman, and Tucker would be amazing, but I can't imagine the M's would be willing to pay what that would cost.

I know very little about the modern landscape of baseball, I'm just a casual fan nowadays (helps the stress levels). How much would Realmuto command as a DH in today's market with his age ? Is that even something in the realm of reality?

Yeah, I haven't been down on JP as others have, either. If you want to start upgrading the team, you can start elsewhere. Like the 7 spot where they couldn't even name a clear starter well into the playoffs.

If JP stays, I'D try him at 2B, I don't trust his throwing any longer.

Mitch Garver is now a free agent after the M's did not pickup the option for his 2026 season.

No doubt. After watching that ALCS, I was pretty impressed with Toronto. They had the 2nd least Ks in the entire league. That's an offense I would love to see here. Put the damn ball in play. Stop swinging for the damn fence all the time.
